The only problem with alot of these services now is that they offer high speed but anytime you put any kind of volume through it they get mad.

Its sort of like going to an all you can eat buffet but not being allowed to have seconds.

What kind of speeds do you get with RR, David?

I get between 4-6Mbps download and only a crumby 350-500kbps upload. All that and routine DNS issues and router issues for the last three years for the bargain basement rip-off of only $45/month.

My local monopoly was Adelphia until Roadrunner bought them out, and for the three years that they ran things I experienced a grand total of only two or three short outages. With Roadrunner it averages three to five outages a month, and some last for several hours.

The latest development that started two months ago is that when the service goes down they refuse to answer tech support. They play a message that states: "We are not able to complete your call at this time. Please call again later," and they disconnect. There was only one time that they put up a preemptive informative message about a known issue, and in that case the service had already been down for more than 24 hours.

Are you too far from the CO or repeater for that speed over DSL? I'm pretty happy with my service here (6Mbps up and 768k down), and don't get the swings in speed that my cable neighbors do. Plus, I can have static IPs, which cable couldn't do for me.

Well, the last time I checked I couldn't get those speeds on DSL, but I haven't checked recently and things may have changed. I'm not worrying about it at this point though; it's water under the bridge.
