Life is too short, live, love and have a good time

« on: March 10, 2011, 04:22:19 AM »

I have a situation that I have never encountered before. I try to boot an 044 256mb game with a known good working boot rom, and when I turn the machine on all the leads on the front of the 044 cpu stay lit with the exception of the red led which blinks.  Normally upon boot up all of the leads on the front of the 044 cpu stay lit except for the red led which stays un-lit.
Does anyone know what it means when the red led flashes upon boot? What is the red led for on the front of the 044 cpu board? I should also note that the validator does not cycle and the screen stays black with diagonal white lines that seem to bounce up and down about 1/4 inch each way almost like when a tv signal is scrambled.
Thanks,
E

Check all batteries then suspect a failed board. I just had the same problem wit an enhanced board. Replaced it and all is good

Cowboy games thanks for the info. That's good info to know and if I ever have the same symptoms again those are the first things I will check;  however, in this case it's not the problem as the 044 board works with another game as does the same boot rom. If anyone knows what the different leds on the front of the 044 cpu board represent please post. My theory is that it's a combo of some bad flash chips and another component or 2 on the 256mb memory board.
