Jackpot Party Slot machine problem

I'm receiving an error.  On the left LED it shows "dot" (not really a t but a H with out the left post or maybe I have a LED light that is burned out).  On the right displays "Fail".  Any Ideas on what the problem could be?

This indicates that there is something wrong with the dotmation display at the top of the game.  It could be as simple as a bad fuse or loose cable (that's what happened to me), or a bad display or top box power supply. 

There is an excellent tutorial on this site to replace the power supply with a computer power supply.  Hopefully it is something simple.

No problem.  There are a lot of great people here that will help you thru this.

There are TWO computers in a dotmation game. The lower computer controls
the reels and the lights and the handle solenoid and the coin counters. The upper
computer controls the dotmation screen animation (nothing more).

The "dotmation" is the big orange plasma display at the top of the slot.
it says "williams" at boot up in big script lettering (assuming the game is
fully working). And it provides all the bonus and other animations during
game play.

The two computers talk back and forth thru an asynchronous (did i spell that right?)
serial line. If the lower computer can't communicate with the upper Dot computer,
you will get the "DOT FAIL" message on the red LEDs below the reels.

So you have an upper dotmation problem. It's not necessarily the dotmation screen
itself (the game has NO way to tell if that is working), but it's the dot controller
board that drives the dotmation display.

This usually happens due to a upper power supply problem. Again, there are
TWO power supplies in this slot. The lower supply (below the reels on the
left) is for everything BUT the upper dotmation.

The upper dotmation power supply (behind the dotmation screen) takes
120 volts AC and converts it to 12 volts DC. This powers the dot controller
board, and the dotmation plasma screen. If this power supply goes out,
the dot controller no longer works, and the lower CPU can't talk to the
upper CPU dot controller, and you get the DOT FAIL message (produced
by the lower CPU).

An easy way to tell if the upper DOT power supply is working is to
remove the Dot matrix display. There is a red LED on the Dot controller.
If this LED is out, then there's no 12 volts going to the dot controller
(or to the dot screen).

So how do you fix this?
The best and simpliest and cheapest way is to use a computer ATX
power supply. If you look in the "wms reels" section of this board,
you'll see a complete discussion on how to implement this inexpensive fix.

It sounds like it's the lower power supply...you have?  If so how much?

If you're seeing "Dot Fail" on the LED screens, it sounds like your lower PS is fine (your lower PS indirectly provides power to those displays) -- it's very likely the upper (Dotmation) PS that has died -- typical for these machines.

(...and this could stand to be moved into the reel category as it's not about a WMS video machine)

Check battery Voltage, if below 3 Volts replace and perform Ram Clear with a Late Version Ram Clear Chip, if you need one we can supply, did the software just get changed?

the battery reads 3.7 any other suggestions? i really really would love to have this game up and running lol !!
