Hey guys,
I'm kind of new to the Bally games but I have a four reel slot that put out a 40 code after I cleared it.  None of the reels will stop spinning.  I picked up two of these and one machine runs perfect.  I have swapped out the reels from the working machine, performed another clear, same results.  Tried swapping the mpu also with the good reels in - no go.  Also have reseated all of the molex connectors on the motherboard.  Could a bad backplane motherboard cause this?  Before I go too far, was hoping to get another opinion.  Thanks in advance!

Was this happening before you cleared it?
If not, why  did you clear it?

This was a game I just got in.  Had a low battery so I replaced that first and put the clear chips in.  The other games were out of service when I first powered them up and it was easier to start with the clear to set them up.

"This was a game I just got in."

Very interesting...  Sherlock Smiley Are you working for a slot machine store/shop?

I ask this of you because most slot machine homeowners who taken a long time in saving up
their hard earned money to obtain a dream machine of their choice usually don't refer to their slots this way...
Most store owners and workers just want to repair the machine - to get it out the door.

Anyways, we figure out who you are later...  Cry Laughing

Is the code [40] still on the display?  Scratch Head 3
Have you tried the ole' slap-the-cabinet-on-the-side method yet?  Cool Thumbs-Up
Do you have the proper manual and beverages for this machine that you/or someone else obtained?  bottles2 VODKA Frosty Beer
We needs more details in order to help you.

Remember..."The more you tell us - the more we will tell you".  yes

Yes, 40 code is still there.  The clear goes through fine but after I install the original mains chips and power up, the reels nudge a couple times, spin and don't stop.  If I close the door, they stop for a few seconds and do the same thing.  I went to test 5 for the reels and they did stop at the home position but as soon as I exit test mode and close the door, keeps giving the 40 code.

I just swithched the original 2007 mains with a set of 2003 mains and used the 2003 clear for them-same problem exists.  BTW-thanks for your input.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ahh, about me?  Small scale business but I consider it a fun hobby that pays off. I have a lot of experience with IGT reel slots but still learning with the Bally.  In the past, I have had a reel tilt on an s2000 caused by a bad mpu or a bad motherboard.
