Still working on this silent service bill validator and something strange came up so I thought I would start a new topic. I changed some dip switches again and played the machine but the reels are SPINNING AT HALF SPEED. Changed everything back as it was and get codes 11, 13, 50, 64 ?. 13and 50 I know will go away after game is played, but the 11 and 64? immediately put the machine into tilt and the reels are still spinning slow. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I checked the voltages at the power supply and they check out. bad board?  I filmed the machine with these codes and tilt.      thanks kevin

The error 11 is Low Voltage. I was going to say there are no Uni errors in the sixties, than I remembered the Mustang. See this thread; http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=225.0
The famous error on the Mustang is 62. Not sure what 64 is? With the low voltage error I guess anything can happen.

I would unplug the bill validator from the board, set the 4-pac dip #2 to all OFF. Check all other connections and dips. Then powerup with a reset.
If it works fine then I would suspect the BV and or it's harness as the problem.
Another note, if the power cord goes out the bottom of the machine, check it for rips and cuts where it exits the machine. This is often a source of intermintent low voltage problems.

Another thing to watch out for.
The daughter board on the 8800 board is easy to misalign. Make sure it is properly plugged in. This board has two screws to hold it in place. Always take the time to secure the daughter board with the two screws. One, it will assure alignment, and two, it keeps the daughter board firmly in place.

Added; I see there are actually three screws. The third is under the lip of the case, a real pain to get at, and I leave that one out.   arrow

uniman, I unplugged all cables to the bv and the 11 code went away. That's the good news. The code 64 still comes up. With door open hit reset switch, tilt and code 64 clear but after 10 seconds at idle and without touching anything tilt and code 64 reappear. Also on the board the three 7 segment lamps are flashing E21. This E21 is does not appear on the machine display only on the daughter board. I saw your post that the display on the board only pertains to the progressive system so I don't know what that E21 means.I know  21 code on the machine is coin in jam but the comparitor lite is on and the optic lights blink as a coin goes thru them if I can get a coin in before the slot goes into tilt. Also the reels still spin slow and and the nudge moves at the wrong times. Okay, I just tried something, I moved the dips on switch 3 to all off and no more tilt code 64 but reels still turn slow and nudge is still off by one position. Help Kevboy

added: When I moved the dips on switch 3 I do get r.r.r.  flashing on the board but no more tilt code 64

Check to make sure the daughter sub-board is plugged in correctly on the 8800. Meanwhile I'm going experiment with a 8800 board and see what I can find.

Please post your game and system eprom numbers too.

The only info I have on the sub-board 7-seg. display says it is used for progressive. Maybe BV errors are displayed too. I'm going to check.

Uniman, Daughter board is in the connector correctly and tight with all 3 screws.
Game chip# 9379-2mr-0002-3
System chip# 9126-0061-1
If I  was to check voltage at reel motors what pins would I test at a reel plug? 24 volts AC right? It seems to me low voltage would make the reels spin slower?

There is no 9126 system chip?? Yours should be 9116.
The problem your having sounds like a board problem. If the reels spin at half speed than the board should sense this and put out an error 41, "improper reel #1 spin". But if the entire system is slow including the program, than it might not. You said you cleared the error 64 and 10 sec later it reappeared. Sounds like the whole thing is slowed right down.
What exactly was done before all this started? Did you remove any eproms? If so, pull them and reseat them. Check the pins. If not leave them alone.
The reels are moved in timed pulses. If you want to check voltages I would check the power supply.
This is a real puzzler!

Try removing the daughter sub-board all together. With the BV disabled and the progressive off it's not needed.
Do a ram clear on startup and then see what happens.
Mine plays just fine without the daughter board.

Jim. I was working on the bv. Switched some dip switches and repaired a pinched off wire to the bv. Machine was working fine and then BAM!!! all hell breaks loose. I guess I just should have left it alone, but NOOOO! i HAD TO MESS WITH THE BV. Maybe my pinched wire shorted something on the board or in the power supply. Right now I am replacing the power cord that did have a bad spot in it and removing the noise filter at the same time. Before I pulled out the power cord I rechecked voltages at the power supply pin 6 should be 24v ac is 12.27v., pin 12 should be 24v ac is 13.4v Tommorrow after the cord is replaced I will recheck these voltages. What else besides the reel motors does the 24v ac supply? I've had enough for one day but will try again tommorrow.

It happens to all of us, that's why this site is here.  rotflmao
My advice is take it one step at a time. Repair the power cord and check it for 110v on the cord. After removing the noise filter check your voltages on the power supply. Pin #5 should show about 32vdc to ground. Pin #6 is AC, check it to pin #12.

Uniman,  I replaced the power cord, removed the noise filter, and removed the daughter board this afternoon as per your recommendation. Once again the uniman is THE MAN!!!!!. Silent service is back in business. Everything is working as it should. My mistake was doing this all at one time instead of step by step. Now I'm not sure which of these steps actually fixed the problem so that the forum members would know. I'm not putting it back the way it was to find out. Thanks for all of your help once again, Kevboy

Great to hear the machine is running. Too bad the validator is giving you trouble. I do suspect the pinched wire on the validator smoked something on the daughter board.
Just a guess.
