The pre-show meet is typically on the Saturday morning of the show (April 9th, this year) in the 7am hour.  It's at the McDonald's that is located just north and west of The Pheasant Run Resort (where the Chicagoland Show event is held).  The McDonald's is at the corner of Main St. (Route 64) and Smith Road.  Its street address is 3900 E Main St, St Charles, IL 60174-2411 , and it basically shares its parking lot with the Wal Mart that is located there.

Here's what I posted about hotel choices a while back.

- The Pheasant Run Resort is really expensive to stay at.  Consider some other nearby hotels that are significantly less expensive per night.  I stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites, Geneva, IL which was mid-priced and very nice.  If you don't care which hotel you get, there are a handful of St. Charles/Geneva hotels on Priceline and Hotwire at decent prices.  Just make sure to isolate your search down to the St. Charles area to avoid getting assigned a hotel closer to Chicago.
