One of my Bill Validator is starting to give me trouble. It is a ZT1202. Lately I always have to remove and reinstall the cash box in order for it to except bills. Basically it keeps kicking out what ever you put in until you take the box out and slam it back in. After you do this a couple times it will finally accept bills for a while, then later starts back in with the same annoying trouble.

What could be the problem?
Do I need to replace it?
Can I go with another brand?

These ZT brands don't seem to have the support out there as the WBA stiles.
Can they be easily switched out? Or do I want to stay with the same?

I know so many questions. Please if someone could put me on the right path I would appreciate it.

Edison

Have you tried cleaning the bill optics with some soapy warm water?
Don't use alcohol-based cleaners.
All they do is cloud up the plastic lenses.
Pull the unit outta there and give it a good cleaning!

No, I havent.......
I guess I could give it a try. With all do respect to you , would dirty optics give reason to pull and reload the cash box in order for it to start working again?

Cleaning things that handle money is a good start.

Look at how the stacker/cash can interfaces with the BV/Transport

JCM on the WBA use a couple fingers that activate switches or optics at the back of the transport to let the WBA know that the cash can installed and the position of the stacker.
I am thinking that unit may do something similar so the unit knows the cash can is installed and the stacker can accept a bill from the transport.
That BV could also have electronic parts as part of the stacker so it could be a poor connection back there.

If the can has to be slammed in to work, I would agree that it sounds like a switch or optic alignment issue.

I will take it apart and clean it real good. I also will inspect everything. Hopefully something will jump out and show to be the problem. I just found a pdf version of the ZT manual on line and will follow it closely. If this is an optic alignment issue I hope it can be realigned easily
Thanks everyone,

On page 62-63, item #16 is a 'cassette present' micro-switch. Might be a good place to start if yours has one.

After carefully cleaning the bill validator, all is good now  applause applause applause  thanks for all your suggestions.  I guess cleaning bill validators every once in a while is a good idea.
By the way I used alcohol free eyeglass lens cleaner to clean the optics. It worked great!

Thanks Again!!!!!!
