I know the round battery is for the cmos memory and has to be good or u get an error but what is the green battery for? They are dead on both of my machines and they still seem to work fine.

Those are used by tattle tale circuitry
It monitors the door optics and door, cage switches while the machine is off.
You can remove it if it a 501, 502, 504 board If it is an enhanced board I have heard leave it alone or else.

thanks for the info i dont think i have an enhanced boards so i gues it would be a good idea to remove them before they start to leak

That's what I do with my 502/4 boards.  They will start leaking and damage traces/components on your MPU board.
