I have a JCM DVB 145 SG for a Bally's Red, White, Blue slot machine made 1993.  It was working fine and then after setting unpowered for a couple months it now will not accept ANY bills.  The green light comes on on the slot machine and the unit cycles and comes on but the bill goes in and comes right back out.  I have opened and cleaned the 2 glass optics with slightley damp alcohol pad.  The bill does go all the way in when inserted.  It has alwasy been "sluggish" and I actually had to put the bill in backwards to get it to accept anything when it did work.  Any suggestions?  If it needs replacing what unit shoudl I replace it with?  Where can I get the replacement unit which will have the most current update?

K first thing is to never use alcohol pads or any kind of alcohol. It's bad for the BV.
Having you checked the cashbox? You will want to make sure the wheels in the back behind
the BV are spinning, also you'll want to check the two flaps in the middle of the wheels making
sure they are up.

Good Luck,

Andrew

Yup, this is out of the DBV manual:

To clean the lenses, use a lint-free cloth and a mild non-abrasive detergent such as liquid dish
soap mixed with water.

I found the Bally manual was most helpful with my BV too.   You can go into an input test mode and actually see what the computer is registering when a bill in inserted.  There is also a test light you can get for the BV itself to see what is going on.
