First of all...

OH-MY-GOD!!!

Ok, now that's out of the way.  Why did I switch from CRT to LCD?  Because of all of you guys that have made the switch and also because every time I go to a casino, they just always look so damned sexy!!

Went with a door mount Wells Gardner 17"/19-pin model.  There really is not much to the installation at all, and I'll try to recap the experience:

1.  Take out old CRT assembly from Game King
2.  Remove Insert bills/ticket light assembly
3.  Remove old CRT bezel from the door
4.  Scrape off and clean old bezel glue and padding from door frame
5.  Install new LCD bezel onto door
6.  Reinstall Insert bills/ticket light assembly
7.  Disconnect cables and remove old touch screen controller PCB from old CRT monitor and install on the back of the new LCD.
8.  Connect new touchscreen cable to the touch screen controller PCB
9.  Install new LCD monitor to the new bezel that was previously installed onto the door
10.  Connect cable cluster to LCD (power cord to black power supply on the back of the LCD, two additional cables that plug into the touch screen contoller PCB, and the VGA cable into the LCD monitor
11.  Secure ground wire into the inner right side of the machine with a nut and one of the existing studs of the machine frame.
12.  Plug the 19-pin connector into the rear plug
13.  Tie up and dress up the cabling to avoid pinched or cut wires when the door is opened or closed
14.  Adjust the monitor settings
15.  Enjoy the crap out of it!!!

A few photos of the poker pornography and what the inside looks like when it's done.

 applause

Thanks,
Jason

I don't have a topbox fan.  There is a fan to the left rear area where the CRT used to reside.  I have it disconnected for the time being as well.  The silence is great!  I'll leave the MPU fan on obviously.  I'll watch it.  My machines sit right next to an AC vent and that room is always cool.

Now you have a place to store all your spare slot parts .......

I saw a Williams open in a casino the other day. LCD door mounted screen, no hopper. I seriously wondered why these things were any more than 6" deep.

That LCD screen sure looks sharp - good job

Can I be the first one to say FREAKING MINTY man..... I am so jealous!

You pictures and descriptions made me think! I have a 19" lcd that is for an IGT AVP machine, but it only has a VGA connection and the touch screen and power connections..... I have started to make my own special cable to use this in my 19" iGame, but I have gotten as far as raping a VGA cable and a 25 pin hopper style plug for the machine side. I wonder if the makers of the over kits would sell me just the cable that I need, unless someone here has an extra one from a scrapped machine? Hint hint.... I wonder if that cable setup is very expensive? Does anyone know the part number for such a beast and the contact info for the people that make these kits? This jealousy may motivate me some more!

FREAKING minty!

K+ for teasing me! +1 (Karma, or whatever)
