I recently purchased a Universal slot machine in hopes of finally starting a collection.
I'm off to a bad start. the machine don't work. i had to break in to start with, remove the lock and have keys made.
once it was back together, thought it would work, but no such luck.
i decided to re-sell it online. then an NLG member contacted me with some possible solutions to my problems. His username is uniman.
Although his solutions did not work, his step by step instructions made me think there may be hope after all.

My machine is "Phantom Spin". I don't have a bill validator, so error codes related to that appear. uniman gave a possible solution, but no luck. Half way thru his directions, things in my machine didn't match.

Can anyone else tell me how to bypass the bill validator? Or can you tell me where to find one?

Thanks in advance for any help with this issue!

How far did you get and what did not match?

1. Do you have the 8800 board or 8116?   Post a pic of it.
1. Did you find the dip switches and set both 4-pac dips to zero?
2. Did you find the reset switch?

Forget the first question, the error 99 tells me it is an 8800.
Most likely it was the reset switch you had trouble finding? Since your board is mounted behind the hopper the reset should be on the top middle of the board, not the bottom middle.
Let me know,

Thanks for the response uniman,
I only got as far as the switches you referred to.
When I removed the small cover you referred to, there were no switches.
There was another cover lower on the handle side, but there were no switches there either.
I did however find the reset, as you stated today, it is in the top center of the board.
Is it possible the board was modified?

Thanks,

And more......

Note: In the first pic here there is a daughter board in the lower 1/4 of the board. You may not have this board, no big deal, it is for the validator your missing.
The dips are just underneath it at the edge of the board.

Pics didn't come through. There is a size limitation. If you can't downsize them, click on my name UNIMAN and email them to me at yahoo.

You may have to remove the entire screened cover to access the dips. Like I said in the email turn all switches to OFF on both 4-pacs . Do not mess with the 8-pac.
The first 4-pac (SW2) is for the bill validator and the other (SW3) is for progressive systems and is probably already set to OFF on all four switches.

Tip: You can upload larger images (by dimension) as long as the size of each file doesn't exceed 3mb.

Unplug the harnesses and pull the board out. Take off the top, should be four screws in each corner and two on the side. The dips are just under the daughter board. You may need to unscrew the daughter board (three screws) and remove it to get good access to the dips. Without a validator you don't need the daughter board, you can leave it out if you want. If you do remove it and then put it back in make sure that 50 pin connection is on right and the two little connectors are plugged in on the daughter board.

Thanks captain,
Moved it into the house and have already hit a minor jackpot!
I think I read on here somewhere where you can put a toggle on the reset.
I'm familiar with 2 post switches, but the reset has 3.
Any direction?

Thanks to all,
uninewbie

Glad to hear you got it working!! That's one of their nicer games.
I think a SPDT switch will work? (Single Pole Double Throw)

Hey, does anyone know what type bill validator my machine takes and where I might get one and cost.
Also may need a door lock mechanism. It works, but gets cranky sometimes. Wasn't real gentle opening it up without a key.
