Last month I had a problem with my Mars ZT 1202 bill validator. Some of the members suggest that I clean the optics real good. It made a difference but now I am still having the same annoying problem. I recently bought (2) new Mars 1207 Validator to replace my Mars 1202. The 1207 is identical to the 1202 in every way. I went ahead and installed the new one. I get a bill validator communications error when it tries to come on-line. I checked all the dip switches and even switched out the new eprom with the old one just for grins... Same thing when rebooting "Bill Validation Com Error" my question is: Am I missing some kind of start up procedure when changing out bill validators.. Just as a side note I reinstalled the old one just to make sure all was ok. It comes on-line just fine. I also tried the second new Mars 1207 and the same "Bill Validator Com Error" returns with the other new one too. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

i don't know jack about the ZT series but i think with the SC series validator that the SC6602 is for netplex (IGT only) and the SC6607 is for RS-232 (everyone else).  maybe Mars did something similar on the older model validator?  there may be some dip switches (even though you checked them) or jumpers on the board that make the difference?  the comm error suggests incompatible firmware also?  again i must stress that i really don't know anything about the ZT models but it may send you in the right direction.  applause
good luck!!
