I sorry for this question I am just getting started with my first slot machine, a triple diamond That was dropped and over the past few months I have been cleaning the machine and have got this machine up and running except for the DVB I will be working on this part next But on reel chips and game proms

Can I mix a game chip with reel chips to change up the game?
I have an SP872 and an Ss4787 and if I can do I need the PSR sheets to do this?

Thank, garfield

No harm in asking questions, thats what this site is all about. Congrats on your new slot. You got a great title as your first machine.

Here is some slot 101.
Your game is controlled by 2 chips. A reel Chip and a game chip.

The "Theme" of your game is really the Reel Chip. This chip stores the Pay Table (what you see on the glass), it knows the order of the Reel Strips and manages the percentage payout.
If you go to RICKS FAQs off the main page, choose IGT BIBLE, choose your theme all of the various reel chips are listed there. For more detailed information about this chip you need to look at its PAR sheet. A PAR stands for Paytable and Reel, and it is simply a page out of a book that has lots of details about the theme. The Reel chip also specifices the "TYPE" of game you have. For instance Triple Diamond is a TYPE 0 game that has no special features. Other games like Double Diamond Deluxe are a TYPE 5 game which has nudge features.

To determine what chips are in your machine, again I will refer you to Ricks FAQs and there is a section there that will step you through how to find tis out. Once you know you can post back asking for a PAR and some kind person might send you a copy from his or her private collection. None of this information is stored at NLG.

The Game Chip controls the functions of the slot. If you change themes (Glass, strips and Reel Chip) you can usually leave the game chip in place as long as it is compatiable with the TYPE specified by the reel Chip. I usually run with a 1271 which is compataible with both TYPE 0 and TYPE 5 games. There are lots of options you can set such as how many coins you want to be paid out from the hopper before it goes to hand pay. Cash or Credit operation, Ring the bell on all wins or just jackpots etc. How you change these options is detailed in the PSR (Program Summary Report). Again once you know your game chip post back and someone may send you a copy.

A Set Chip is used to enable the Bill Validatior. In actual fact the slot does not know if it is a nickle, dime, penny or quarter slot. So how many credits do you get for a dollar ?? This is why the SET chip is used. You set the denomination for say a quarter and then the DBV becomes enabled and would give you 4 credits for a dollar. To use the set chip - you pull the game chip, set the denomination and then swap back to the game chip. Again I defer to Ricks FAQs for the detailed description.

A Clear chip is rarely used, but sometimes if you move from major revisions of chips a clear is sometimes necessary. Good to have around and usually sold as a package with the Set chip.

In order to change up the game, a Triple Diamond can be mixed with a Haywire Chipset.  This is what we call a cross over game. In this case the Paytable of two themes match so you can mix and match some of the parts.

Have Fun, post back, its all good.

Ok, this is all good information, I cannot believe I missed the faq's on my own
I have a set chip and a clear chip on its way to me Hopefully I'll get them before Christmas. I hope this will fix the last part on my slot dvb is not active.
Thank you again I will be looking at my options, I really like the idea of making my slot machine act like a haywire or nudge action.
Now I just need to look at the sponsors on this site to and decide what is the best chips to make this happen.
any input would be appreciated

Thank's
my
