I am using a IGT S+ bv set chip that has worked before on one of my other games, but now that I try it in another game, instead of getting a (0) in my display, I get a 62-0 instead. Any help on this one? I have had this topic before, but never eally got a clear answer, other than my bv set chip may be bad or I have a bent leg, which I know the legs on the chip are fine and as far as the chip itself, I have set another one of my machines before with it.

Thanks,

David

David,

Check your Game Eprom, maybe it is not seated properly or is bad or bent pin? I can't remember that far back when I had this problem in the past, everything is fuzzy! Duh! But I thought that it had something to do with the Game Eprom... arrow

Here is a nice reference to bookmark also, and it points to the game prom too... Scratch Head

Usually when I am at the Barber I always look at the hair on the floor and say: Looks like it is getting a bit lighter and more grey, and he answers no it is just fine, that is until last time when he replied yup it sure is!!! He did not hold back! With the year that I have had since January I am really seeing the Grey come in alot more!!!! Silly Me! Well that's Life, now to my excuse here: I ASSumed that he was talking about after he replaced the Set Chip with the Game Chip. I need to read better! Nerd

1271 and as far as the set chip, it just says "IGT set chip" there are no other numbers on it. I got the set chip from Darrell at slots4home @ a year or so ago. I do have other sp chips I could use such as a sp875 and a sp1306 gm type 23. I am using this in a Wild And Lucky 3 coin game if that matters.

Thanks again for all of the input.

IGT utility program SET088, SET089, SET090, SET091, SET101, SET102, SET116, or SET121 is required to configure options for this version 1271.  For information about using the set chips, refer to the appropriate set chip PSR.
NOTE:  Set chips may support features not supported by the game program.  If the game program does not support a feature, it cannot be enabled.

Might help

I stated above that I had the same question from before but never got a complete answer. I apologize if this was considered overposting.

I understand -- it probably would have been better to bump your old topic, though, rather than starting a duplicate and reinventing the wheel (for example, CH's suggestion of making sure the chip was seated properly, which had already been covered).   propeller

I don't know if this matters or not but this machine has a sentry smart bv bezel instead of the standard one, would that cause a problem?

I finally got my bv set chip to enable, my bill validator bezel is lit up, but it won't take in a bill. Any ideas on this? The reason I was getting the 62-0 code when I was using my set chip was because I did not have the hopper installed in the game at the time, I did not know it had to be in the game.

That is an amazingly strange statement...
I've installed thousands of chips and never once did I ever need a hopper.
I am really quite certain that having the hopper installed had NOTHING to do with the SET chip working.
However, you need to actually "enable" the DBV with that chip for the DBV to work.

When you get a chance, try cleaning the DBV optics with a moist cloth.
Do NOT use any solvents or liquids that have alcohol in them.
They will "cloud" up the optic eyes and only make bill acceptability worse.

These are the instructions that was sent to me on how to enable my bv:

1. Remove my game chip and replace it with my set denom chip

2. Re-install the main board and power up.

3. "Machine should show a 0 in the coins played and a 9 in the left display"

4. Press the spin reels button to change the 9 0 to a 9 1.

5. Press the test button to make the display read 0.

6. Press the spin reels button until I get to the denomination I want to use, in my case, .25.

7. Press the test button to save the setting for .25.

8. Turn off machine and re-install my game chip and power back up.

9. Get a 61 in the display, press the test switch to change to 61-1, close door and turn reset key 1 time to load the bv and game data into the memory of the machine.

10. The machine initializes and the bv will be working.

Now i did this just as above, and have tried it on two different S+ machines that I have in my home, but on one of my machines the bv does not light up but will take in a bill and then reject it. On the other machine, the bv is lit up but it will not take a bill in at all.
I am using a sp1271 on each one if that matters.

Everytime I have run into this a Clear and a Set15 fixed it. Everyone will say NO!!! But it works!! Use as a last resort if you are sure you have it enabled, accepting bills and giving them back.  stir the pot / get cooking stir the pot / get cooking stir the pot / get cooking

First I would swap BV heads with the good machine and see what happens. If the problem stays ont he same machine make sure you have set a denomination. I thought it would still take a bill if not set, but maybe not.

I would also try swapping BV power supplies and the whole transport assy from a good machine. Process of elimination.

In theory, Q1 on the bezel could be shorted and keep the lights on, but I don't know if it's ever happened.
