Ok.. I got to the 61-1.. Closed the door, turned the keyswitch..Nothing.. I checked the optics and they're ok. Weird thing..It accepted a 20.. . . dropped the coin and went into a insert coin mode..it wouldn't take the coin and bv cycles but no light.. Hmm. ?? Any suggestions? Logic board is ok. Checked it in a tester..

Something is odd. The machine shouldn't take a bill with a 61 error code in the display. Scratch Head

Regarding the 61-1 failing to clear, have you checked the jp reset switch to be sure it's functioning properly?

Forget about the BV cycling, BV on a Game King, S 2000 and S+ will cycle even if no MPU installed in machine. ( accept light will not come on )

After machine accepted the 20 did you try to play a game?? I'm thinking it could just be your display isn't displaying. Well that can't be it because you saw the 61-1  Duh!

Were you doing anything to the machine ( game change, etc. ) to cause the 61-1 ?? Are the reels stiff ?? You said MPU test good, but a little electrical cleaner MPU to Mother board can do wonders !!  The weak link on a S+ is the harness from the Power Supply to the mother board.

I'm surprised the bill acceptor took his $20.
Did it register the $20 in credits on the display?
The [61-1] should have went away when the DBV took the $20 bill?

I agree with Buzz though...check the motherboard's power supply harness and see if the reels are "stiff" or holding in position.
