Skipper  Unless I had a bad dream last night, I think Tilt has posted that he now has moved your Virgin maker chip over to the MPU. I seem to remember this only works on a GK/I game,

My turn to do a clear then see what happens 1270 mpu, 598 game, 11GX1 version

I used a 97 clear all I have.
IT definitely wiped the machine and would only let me set the account and coin denom without using the key chip.
locked the player denom to accounting denom or the minimum since I used 1 cent as accounting denom.
used the key 31 to fix the rest of the key menu stuff.

My suggestion would be pull the ram or battery for ram depending on which board you have (50x boards RAM 1270 battery)
then pull the eeprom off the motherboard and use programmer to either clear it with 00 or FF not sure which would work the best.
I did that when I first got the 1270 since I only have the 97 clear.

Now to fix my printer information

Now  Why would I want to go through all this BS of removing a chip from the mother board or removing a battery from the MPU just to do a clear and key?? WHY ??  You said I could do a clear and key without a key chip, I liked that idea, but it doesn't work, you still need a key chip. So why are we trying to reinvent the wheel ??

I think that if you had unpluged the printer before a clear it would not have to be reset.

I wonder what would happen if you added the Keychip31's  2,550 offset data lines to an SB chip?
There's certainly enough room on an SB for it?
I would imagine the eprom's checksum would have to be adjusted as well.
This way, every time you power up the machine, the machine enters the Keychip31 routine.
Should you want to bypass it - just hit the "Max" bet button?
Good-bye Keychipping ?

I think if we went back on topic and try to help the fellow that started this thread.

If I read this right Machine A will not key, but move board to machine B it will clear and key. I'm assuming he only has one set of clear/key chips, something must be wrong with machine A and more info is needed.

I agree...sorry.
I'm wondering as well if he's getting a red or the two amber LED's lit up on the MPU tray when the Keychip is installed?
