I have a Bally 6000 with what i believe is a Barcrest top. Game Theme Musical Cherries.
I had to replace the battery in the top control board and now have a code E0001
in the top display. The bottom works fine but i don't know how to reprogram the
top unit. If anyone has a manual to sell or info on how to reprogram the top, it
would be greatly appreciated.

There were posts about this game on the old site, does anyone have a backup?

I went through the past posts on the old site with this title and a member, johnhisc2 had put up posts about error codes he was getting on his machine. I did a search and found that Acres Gaming was affiliated with that title in some way, but no luck on any documentation.

Hi,

I have the same machine and just went through the same thing not too long ago.  Pretty sure I remember what to do here.  It's good that it reads E00001, let me know if it changes to a F00001, where in that case you are going to need a clear chip.

Anyway, lets try this and let me know the results:

On your top box there should be 2 keyed resets close to one another (not the jackpot reset key below - the 2 up high).   I am pretty sure you want to turn the one closest to the front of the machine one time.  After that, you want to press the big green GO button 2 or 3 times until the machine resets.  It should work.

Let me know.

Hi wanted to post our e-mails offline in case someone needs this for future use.  Dick is now getting a F0001 error in the top box which means there is a game mismatch / communication error.  This requires a ram clear.  Procedure for complete game clear / reset copied from our emails below incase someone needs it in the future:

Ram clear the bottom board.

Install a U28 Bally 6000 Ram Clear in the U28 board eprom location...make sure tab is in the correct direction.

While holding the Psuedo coin and Test buttons on the board, turn the power on.  Continue to hold until you see a CLC, CLF or CLP in the win paid display.  Release the buttons after you see this.

Power the machine down, replace the U28 Ram Clear with your original game chip.  Before turning the machine back on make sure coin hopper is in place, BV connected, and coin tray in place...also don't forget to reconnect the small wire to the front of the board.  Turn the machine back on and close the door.

If your board is populated with a U53 timekeeper (which it probably is) you will be given the option of inputting the date and time after you turn it back on.  You can ignore this for a home use machine, instead just keep hitting the Bet Max button to move though all option fields or if you wish you can adjust by hitting the Spin button to change and Bet Max to accept and move to the next field.  Fields are in this order (mm/dd/yy/day-of-the-week;-0=Sunday).  When you get to the last flashing field hit the Change / Service button one time which will exit you.  The game will reset, reels will spin, then should be good to go.

Now you should have the E0001 error message in the top box after you do this (not the F0001 you had before).  You now need to reset the top box.  Turn the top box keyed reset (front button) one time, press the right green GO button 3 times (not the left red collect button), machine resets and should run.  If not then you have possible a board issue in the top box but given that you just changed out the battery I would doubt it.

Let me know how it goes.

So... did this fix Dick's problem (I hope so!).  This could stand to be moved to the Bally Reel category for future reference (rather than getting lost in the closed topics category) as that seems like good info from Jim S.  applause

This did not fix it.   I have asked for him to send me the option settings on the S6000 side as I think that is where the issue is.   I think you have to set it to some type of progressive like OTP (Over the top) and some other things as well.

Thanks for asking!

Hi Dick,

I took some high res photos of the main board, back plane, and top box board for you.  Unfortunately we are no longer able to post Hi Res photos to this site for someone's future use but I did email them to you directly...let me know if you did not receive them.  You should be able to download the images I emailed to your desktop and get an enlarged photo on your screen where you can see the various jumper settings clearly.  Hope this helps.  I attached the Lo Res photos below but probably not much use.

Thanks!

I will try this tomorrow

DS1 123578 ON 46 OFF
DS2 378 ON 12456 OFF
DS3 1234678 ON 5 OF

As I don't think that is what I had on the DIPS on the main board.

finally up and running.

The only Dip I had to change from what you had was DS2-5 for WBA / MEI

Winning combo

6000 MPU

DS1 123578 ON 46 OFF
DS2 3578 ON 1246 OFF
DS3 1234678 ON 5 OFF

TOP Bonus Board
1234568 OFF 7 ON

 U43 2MB (WD00) 06/22
S6M4 000A0008-00
2004 L04-1590

U28 2MB (BAD3) 06/22
S6M1000A0008-00
2004 L04-1590

U18 27C256 06/17/98
E7536111X-05 8580
1998 L98-1699

U20 27C256 06/17/98
E753611X-05 8580
1998 L98-1699

The rest of the 6000 settings were default

If you get the F001 that is the only time you need to clear the top with the upper back reset key then hitting GO 3 times (it will go E001 after that waiting for the bottom)

If  the bottom gets (91NC) then check the comm cable that goes to the 6000 board front.

Backplane is standard as well as the 6000 configuration + Settings

Jim - Thank you!  K+
