This sounds like some one needs a Slot Tech that does house calls.
I think I am a bit far from you.

The totally blank side at least in future logic printers goes down when you insert the ticket into the print head.
I got tickets that say this side up
its the blank side I have to turn them over. so the 2 marks are face up in the tray and print head.
That is not the problem. I was working when game shorted out. Got everything else working.
Tried printer from another game & same thing.

Oh boy

this might be crap shoot and a very long process and some creativity on your part.

move the the mpu and printer from this machine to other, clear any tilts that occur and see if the mpu works with either printer.
if it does then you have either a harness or motherboard issue 24V short to ground after it leaves the motherboard can destroy traces.
The next suggestion might take you all night depending on how quickly you can basically assemble the machine parts outside of the cabinet.
The only thing that I would not take out are the handle,  BV and some other parts that do not matter.
Leave the top box stuff alone. less to put back.
No BV either unless you really need to load credits on it.

When it took a crap I replaced power supply, complete wire harness, MPU, board behind MPU & lower box.
I hate to do it but you might be right & this week end I might be stripping it out again & going over everything & do some swapping..
What sucks is everything work good except for the printing.
Thanks Foster, Ford

I'd try bypassing the printer harness 1st by unplugging the harness from
the printer and going directly into the motherboard and see if that
starts the printer...if it does work, then it's the harness.

You normally can not do that. unless you mean unplug the printer harness from the netplex port on the power dist board and move to an available netplex poer on the motherboard.
Which in most S2000 machines means you have to use the top box netplex port on the motherboard.

the printer pigtail is 8 pins standard netpex is 10 pin
the printer does not even use the 13VDC or its matching ground wire.

The 10 pin connector on the printer does not match a normal netplex port (IGT did that on purpose)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. All works including printer.
When I switched boards printer did not work with that one also. Was pissing around tonight & next thing it would go into reel tilt.
After switching all kinds of thing around again I pulled MPU from the DD Haywiire. All worked including printer.
Put my chips from original game in & it worked.
I've had it running for 1/2 Hr. now & it keeps on working.
I guess the first board went when game crashed & the 502 I had here was also bad. What ever was wrong with first board has to be what's wrong with 2nd.
Both acted the same.
Thanks for all the help & advice.

Thanks Bunker. It goes to show that the other board I had was OK when I packed it away. When I got it out to use on here it was bad.
