Someone brought in a board from a Bally slot  to our shop.  Slot doesn't work, and I determined the battery was dead.  Seems pretty simple so far.  The problem  is that I don't know what version of Bally slot it is, so i don't know if there is any reset or clear procedure I need to do before it goes back to the machine (I'm taking it back).

I tried doing a Google Images search of Bally slot boards, and didn't find one like it.  I tried to draw a simple pic of what it looks like.  it is rectangular and was mounted on the left inside wall of the slot (if I remember correctly).  It has a small board mounted onto the main board, and the battery is on that board.  the battery is one of those that look like a AA battery with solder tabs, like was seen on the late 70's pinball MPU's.

Does anyone know the model?  And if there is anything that needs to be done after replacing the battery?

this sucks, not even knowing the name of the slot.  I just know the board says Bally on it, and it's at work.  I really need to know something by tomorrow...


PS:  I tried searching for every post about Bally and Battery, but nothing.  Nor did I find pics of Bally boards for ID purposes...

Looks like the board out of a Bally E1000 series slot.
If so the battery is a nicad and the machine needs
a couple of hours on to charge the battery.

1000 series - thanks.  I can put a fully charged battery on it.  Does it need any resetting done once I reinstall the board?  or will it work right away?

And one of the chips says E-1226, if that makes a difference.  the board is a P 2948-401 AS 2978-3 and the battery board is a P-2948-304 AS-2979-1...

The battery for the E1000 series has to be a rechargeable nicad
because there is a charging circuit to keep the battery charged.
Most of the time it will reset but there is a "Zero Clear" chip for this board.

Thanks.  I should have come back and mentioned that I replaced the battery with a rechargeable and installed it.  Everything is working good now...
