I started another project today. It's a Bally 6000 with pro sound. Origional MPU gave me no sound. Swaped out another MPU and got sound. Would like to find out what is wrong with the origional. Thanks Bill Scratch Head

did you ever get anywhere on this? I have a Bally 6000 Blazing 7s with the pro sound II board in it and I am not getting any sound at all.

Thanks,

David

Do you have another mpu board to swap like Bill did and see if that helps?
I have one that will work for several weeks then no sound. I disconnect sound board & remove
sound chip - connect all & it works for a few wks.. I tried cleaning all connections etc. doesn't help.

Did you try the obvious first
being the volume pot on the sound board itself
also the correct speaker wires coming off that pro sound board going to the bottom speaker not the original wires if upgrading to pro sound
lastly make sure in menu 11d 68 is set to 01

Tim

Oh make sure you have the sound chip installed in the pro sound board
there should be a chip in one of those clam shell type holders
not sure which # it is on the board, just typing off the top of my head.

I do have that set at 01. As far as the chip that goes into the U4 clamshell, which direction is the correct as it fits into the clamshell? I don't know if this matters or not, but when I turn the game on, the led on the sound board is lit on steady red.

On my 6000 machine the red light has the heart beat blink, NOT on solid. below are some pictures

The sound board in my machine is different from yours, mine has the clamshell holders for the sound chip, which i believe goes into U4. I do have a sound board like that one in your picture that i may try in my machine though.

There are 2 types. The old one like you have that takes a chip & the newer one that uses speakers on top That has a clam shell type for chip.

I replaced the CPU with a new one that I bought and now have my Pro sound back. The reason for this post is I sure would like to know the board fix on the bad CPU. Thanks Bill
