It seems I read on here a while ago that there are 2 different size reels on a 5 reel.
Can someone set me straight? Maybe I didn't get it straight.
I have a 2 inch reel on my games & want to make sure I get correct strips.
Thanks Ford

Ford, newer 5 reel machines use a strip that is approx 2 1/4" wide. Commonly found on games made after 2005 I believe. Actual reels measure like 2 3/8". Strips are backlit and washable. Origional 5 reel games use 2" strips on a 2 1/8" reel. Strips are backlit, non-washable. The newer, wider reels are also commonly, but not always, LED backlit. If the physical width of the strips you're looking at are over 2" wide, then they are the newer wider ones. Hope this helps

Thanks cowboy. I was thinking of getting another game for my 5 reel & wanted to make sure I got correct strips.
Maybe I should put some of the newer reels in so I can get newer game with washable strips.
Can I just put other reels in or must I get another mounting plate?

yes...you will need the right shelf and matching reel glass.
Incorrectly sized reels and reel strips do not fit in the reel glass windows right... no

Ford, you might check and see if your current game has strips available in the wider variety also and just switch over. Like Bunker said though, you'll need new reel glass and shelf to do it. Even Denver Duck was available with either size reels

Not all 2" strips are non-washable.  As an example, I have sets of reel strips for Double Diamond Run, Triple Stars and Cleopatra that are washable.  They were available both ways.  IGT made the washable 2" as replacements.  I ordered a set myself some time ago.

Good to know idesign, I have a Cleopatra & a Unicorn with non washable, They are good condition but would not hurt to keep in
mind that I can get washable if I have to replace them.
Thanks Ford

Washable have a very high gloss to them.  Non-washable are usually dull or have more of a satin sheen.  You can test a corner of the strips if unsure, if they get sticky they are non-washable.

Yeah...don't wash them!!  lol

Whenever in doubt, just use a lint -free LCD screen cloth.
Or something similar...throw it out after wards or you'll scratch the heck outta da strips!

Idesign, BTW I wonder offhand - what in the world does IGT charge for a set of strips for the casino?
Just wondering what outrageous price they charge casinos?...lol

You got a good deal.  I was paying $45 a strip with a markup.  Can't do that any more since other than casinos can no longer buy from them from what I understand.

Too bad EI got shut down by IGT.  Their strips were a good deal at $45 a set of 3.

Jeff, did IGT really sell new strips for only $45 each? That's surprising, considering how greedy they are.

I would to ask a question getting back to 5 reel basket sizes and strips.
The glass and strip kit I have coming in is a 5 reel Cleopatra game.
May I ask, what size would the reels be on this particular S2000 9L 5R 90CM 5-reel machine?

Is that Cleopatra considered the older S2000 game with the 2" strips?
I have a chance to get myself a 5 reel unit w/shelf but the seller wants to know which reels I need?
Thanks!

Non-backlit version? They made such a thing in a 5 reel? I think I've got a complete set of incandecent backlighting if you need it Bunker.
