The knife should be barely touching the top of the shelf wheel. BUT it needs to be flat against the pinwheel so coins don't get stuck behind it. You may need to bend it (with a heat gun or hair dryer or something). Or you can buy a new one, they are prety cheap.

Also, you need to make sure you have the proper shelf wheel and pinwheel for the coins you are using.

When it stops with the 3300, what do you find? Are coins stuck behind the knife? Are there some on the shelf wheel (i.e. are they even getting picked up)? Sometimes the hopper won't pick up coins if the hopper is pretty empty.  Are the nubs on the pinwheel worn?

You should be able to see if there are coins on the wheel just by looking. But to inspect everything, pull out the hopper (with power off). There are 4 screws with springs around them that hold the bowl on. There may also be 2 springs on the top. Remove them to pull the bowl off. Empty the hopper first of course.

No, you should not have to remove it. Just sort of rotate the bowl around.

Here is a picture looking down between the bowl and wheels. You need to see if there are any coins on the wheel when you get the 3300. That will help to determine the cause of the 3300. If there are no coins, they are not getting picked up by the pinwheel.

I circled the spring on the top that you may have to remove. There shoulf be one on the other side too.

Here are some videos worth looking at made by our resident expert. It will give you a better idea of how things should work and you can see the way the knife should be. They deal with 3100 errors, but still helpful.
