What is the easiest way of knowing what Bally you are looking at especially since the 5000 is definetly the one to avoid?

barry;  u can usually tell by the button alignment on the door. three buttons on the right side at the very end of front panel, one lone switch on the left side. a split door arraingment, top(reel glass) STAYS CLOSED WHEN THE BOTTOM IS OPENED. Usually a two card cage under the reel assembly.Larry still supports this machine----normal problems are lousy switching power supply (surprise)  pancake or ?batteries resets, depends on software chips used. Most serious problems were low battery issues, not so much replacing the battery but resetting the settings which went back to default--- coin in coin out lose credits feature, need a bally keypad like on the V2000 to reprogram

Here are some pics to help with the Indentification, the only difference outside between the 5000 and the 5000+ is the Display, the 5000 used a VFD display in the center of the door, where the plus used a Digital Display on the side oif the reels, the first 2 pics are of 5000+ snd the Gold Door is a 5500 or commonly called a ProSlot 5500

thanks Jim - I hate moving up to newer STUFF.  but those oldie but goody E-series and E/ms just aren't around - need things to work on - found a Gold Rush Locally and by all accounts - is a 5000 plus.  price is right  - and Larry Weber does work on them (no suprise).  GOOD KARMA to you as usual. thanks again.
