I have this happen from time to time as well regardless of amp being switched, DSV SIMM, or theme.  You wouldn't happen to have a revision 504a MPU in that machine would you?  I figured it was a problem with that board that was fixed in later revisions.

Man, I need to update my MPU.

You NEVER have to clear the machine unless you're doing an accounting denom change Jason. Changing the SG chips will only require resetting a couple RAM errors when you turn it on. I did this the other day on one of mine. I use 504b and 1270 boards and get the same kind of issues every now and again with both. I think they just stumble on the simms occassionally

If this is a relatively new problem for the machine it may well be an amp board problem. I guess, thinking back on mine, it's not so much a volume variation as it is that it seems to loose the stereo effect sometimes to where it sounds like only one speaker is working on this or that reel stop. Pretty rare and random and never on the same soundtrack from the simm

it def is a amp problem, i swapped out mmlite board to see if that was it, that didnt make no difference then i slid my hand in the back where the amp is and wiggled all the conectors on the amp board which weer filled with dust all over them....... and now it sounds perfect again.......so i think its either the conectors could of gotten loose by shutting the door on the machine 1000 times or my amp is going bad...... i def will get a new amp incase it is the amp.......

Oxidization Strikes Again!    rotflmao
It will come back....wiggling the connectors only temporarily allows the machine to work
until the receptor pins weaken again, causing micro-arcs (   lightning bolt lightning bolt super mini lightning bolts!  lightning bolt lightning bolt )
and forming yet more oxidization!

At some point,  it will be TIME to replace the harness or the receptor pins -
whatever you are capable of doing.

A member named Reho told us about a great product called "De-Oxit" that he picks up at Radio Shack.
I just never remembered to pick some up...  Duh!

I use De-Oxit on a fairly regular basis and it seems to work very well.

Hold it close, inside or out and don't depress the trigger all the way. Try to control spray pressure. Shouldn't hurt the wires if you overspray just a bit. Wipe everything off when finished
