I have an S2000 with a WBA Bill Validator. Today I started to shop it out and got a Comm Failure. The bill validator doe not make a sound during the start up.. Did a quick check of the wiring and didn't see anything at a glance.. The one thing I did notice is the there are no wires hooked up to the cash box switch, but I looked at the other machines I got at the same time and there all the same, and I had one of them playing earlier... I did read that I might have to try reconfiguring netplex devices in menu, but to what setting? I did find in the menu what might be the software being used, it said WBA 12/13 024  V3.60.30. One other question, whats the best thing to use to clear a bill validator, and then to use on one that slow and noisy to oil it??

They should be green...did you look for them
behind the DBV area and see if they're wired up together?

Theres a group of wires behind the cash box and switch that are bundled together, but nothing looked like it would go on the white switch? Would it be one plug for the switch or more? Why would the other machine I was working on earlier be working if there are no wires on that ones cash box switch then??

The two wires for the switch may be looped together back
near the motherboard perhaps?
I don't know...without high resolution pictures -
we are just simply guessing what you have in that machine.

Ok. I'll post pics in the morning. I was kind of hoping I missed something when I did the key chip or that it might need to be cleared? This is the first time doing this my self.  Scratch Head banghead Scratch Head 3

A clear chip is only really used to change the denomination...not much else.
The small 22-24 gauge black wires with little white Molex connector housings
in the back of DBV,  are for hooking up the bill validator.
They are 3 different sizes I believe.

Make sure the BV Head, Transport, and Cash can are fully seated.
All dip switches are off
Switches are up if you are holding the transport upright as it fits in the machine. Look at the switch case to be sure though.

The Switch behind the Cash (mounted to the back of BV Chassis has no function for a home user.
It was most likely wired to the Casino's Security System (it being used depends on which casino the machine came from)

IF you only have yellow bezel label there are 3 Molex SL 0.100 connectors that are used on on the BV (They may be black or white I have seen both)
If you have the WBA Sentry installed (it still only uses 3 but the Sentry connects between the machine's Harness and the BV harness

Machine male connectors
Power is a 2 pin with Red and Black with red stripe
Netplex is a 5 pin with Greeen with blue stripe, Green with red stripe, Green with orange stripe, Green with brown stripe,  and Green with black stripe
Bezel is a 4 pin with only 2 wires Yellow with black and Black with yellow

BV female connectors
Power 2 Pin with Red and Black
Netplex 5 pin with Red, Brown, Orange, Yellow and Green
Bezel 4 pin White and Black

IF you go into the netplex auto config and press the spin reels button It is all you can do. By the way the machine does the same thing every time it boots up from power on.

I suspect you have a pinched netplex wire elsewhere in the machine
My machine would not function with the BV configured in a internal test mode that is part of the BV firmware. Test modes mess with the I/O signals to the machine

Before we try to reinvent the wheel why don't we try a couple of things. The wires going to the cash can door micro switch MUST be connected together if the cash can door lock has been removed. Open the cash can door if the two wires are still connected to the micro switch remove them from the switch and connect them together. I you don't see them there, remove the hopper if you have one and look to the lower bottom of the BV chassis and the two wires will be in that area. The two wires in question are one green wire and one blue with a gray tracer.

Next switch the complete BV head and transport from the bad machine to the good machine. Does it now cycle when you turn the power on ? If it does, install the BV out of the good machine to the bad machine does it cycle ? If it does the problem is fixed. If it doesn't make sure the cash can is fully installed. ( look for any screws washers or any other BS that can keep the cash can from being completely latched.) There is every chance in the world you have a bad BV, Casinos are noted for putting their junk parts in a machine when it leaves the floor. ( If I was short parts I would )

As Foster said, the white Cherry switch behind the cash can is not used for home use so forget about it.

Today the machine showed just a bill validator error. Wiring all checks out so I took a known good bill validator and put it in the machine and it worked. Come to find out after swapping just the bill head on working one with the nonworking one it would not boot up. Then we took the good bill head and installed it on the base is question and it worked. So it looks like this problem is solved and now I need to get a good bill head for a WBA 12-13. The only other thing I need to do is check what version software it running and if it needs to be up dated. Thanks to Cartman765 for his help today  +1 (Karma, or whatever)  and thanks for everyone's advice too.  Thanks YOU ROCK!!!
