Hi All;

Since finding this board I've been digging into my machines and am enjoying obsessing with the details. One of my machines makes all the normal sounds except the reel-stop sounds.  It has a SS7200 5-Times-Pay chip and looking at the PSS for the SP1271 it looks like there's only two settings, "Options reel-stop sounds only {0} or reel-spin tones and reel-stop sounds {1}" but apparently nothing for just the reel-stop sounds (off). There's a couple of different speakers, do different sounds come out of different speakers and I have a broken one?  What am I missing? TIA for any advice...

The S+ only has one speaker

SP1271 either you have reel spin music and handle solenoid clicking (for reel stop sounds) or you have no reel spin sounds and the speaker makes the stop sound
The CPU and sound chip cant handle switching between the sounds quick enough to sound right.
The CPU is busy checking the door optics and reel optics so it can stop them at the proper symbol, yes blanks are a symbol

Can I see a picture of your two speakers Hotel1 ?
I don't think I've ever seen an S+ with more than one...?
Maybe someone did a speaker mod to that machine?

I guess it's the handle solenoid clicking that I'm hearing on my Double Diamond that's not there on my 5-Times-Pay.  I only have one speaker, and I assumed that the handle solenoid clicking, coming from above, was a second speaker since the music comes from below.  The handle solenoid clicking is there for the coin in clicks but it's not there for the reel-stop clicks like my Double Diamond.  Why would that be and why does it bother me?   TIA

Play off or cash out the credits on the Five Times Pay

Now open door on that machine press the attendant button until you see a 2 and 0 in the player display and 0 still in the coins played.
press the spin reel switch so the 0 changes to a 1
Press the attendant switch about 10 or so times until the machine cycles display goes blank and comes back then the reels spin.
Now you should have the reel spin tune and the solenoid clicking when you play it.

Here is a document from Stat that will help you with the SP1271. I know he would have jumped in with it soon , But I gave you a head start arrow arrow arrow

I hit the attendant button twice and page 2 appeared on the "Winner Paid" display and 1 appeared on the "Credits" display.  The "Spin Reels" button toggled the "Credits" display from 0 to 1 and back again.  As expected 0 makes only the coin-in and reel-stop sounds and 1 makes only the coin-in sounds and the spin-reel music with no reel-stop sounds.  How do I get all the sounds, it's not a DIP switch, is it?

Your handle solenoid may be broken. As was mentioned above, there are only two settings. One is speaker generated reel stop sounds (and no spin music), and the other is physical solenoid generated reel stop sounds (with spin music from the speaker). There are no other settings or possible combinations.

If you're not getting solenoid clacking when you have the setting selected that gives you music during the spin, your solenoid isn't working properly.

Check the handle solenoid  wiring.
I had the same problem and the wires to the solenoid was disconnected.

From looking at the parts lists in the manual and listening to my working machine it seems like there's two solenoids, an upper one that makes the coin-in sounds and a lower one near the pull handle that makes the reel-stop sounds.  Is that correct?  Is the lower one "in" the pull handle mechanism?  TIA for the help!

There is only one solenoid that normally clicks for reel stop and the handle release.
It gets pulled in when you drop the first coin or press bet one credit
It is released once you start the game, either by pressing spin reels or max bet, pulling the handle. the only time it is not activated is when you start the game by max bet.
It is quickly pulled and released to create the reel stop sounds.
if you are quick enough while the reels are stopping you can pull the handle down (it wont do anything or hurt anything as long as you try not to force it)

You can hear the coin drop into the hopper
You might be able to hear the small rake solenoid move to allow the coin to fall into the hopper.
It stays released until a valid coin is detected by the coin comparator.
The only other solenoid in the machine controls where coins fall after the optics and that is to the hopper or into the coin drop so they fall into stand in a casino.
Most home users that means they land on the stand or whatever the slot is sitting on if that solenoid is activated.

Is it the "lockout solenoid"?  You guys are a great source of information!  The arm pulls no matter if there's a coin in or not which seems like a complete failure of that part.  How hard would it be to change just it out - should I just get a complete handle mechanism?  The handle area looks pretty complicated on the schematic. Thanks again for all the help...

The handle mechanism itself is complicated.
the location of the switch and solenoid are not too hard to get to
IF I have to work on handle mechanism, I remove the BV and its chassis
Then I take Handle off and handle mechanism out.
It can be pain to work on it in the machine for me.
