I just got two S-2000's and neither was parts complete.
I know have a known good CPU with chips and all other wiring and components now attached.
I power up the machine and get all amber, red and green leds flash for a half second and then go out. When this happens the fan in the top box attempts to spin, but then stops.
It looks like the machine gets start up voltage for the half second and then shuts down. It will do this ever 5 second or so but not come up. I have replaced the power supply with 4 other power supplies with the same result. The only difference is with one of the other power supplies, the re-start cycle with the leds is much faster almost every second.
Could I have 4 bad power supplies? or is there something else I should check first?
Also if testing the power supplies with a DVM where should I test and is it like a computer power supply where it need a load before powering up?
That's what it appears to be doing. It powers up for the half second and then powers back down.

No, I assume the power on - off cycle happens too fast to have a florescent light react that quick?

Sounds like you've got a short bringing the power supply down. Start by unplugging stuff on the motherboard and all the lighting. Then plug back in till it repeats the origional problem

Thanks Cowboy....   Clap Clap
That did it. It was J19 Speaker, Main Door LED
I then plugged the J19 back into the backplane and disconnected the door display, Door I/O, power to the VFD and the VFD.
Powered on the machine and it went back to the flash start-up. So it must be in the wiring to the door?

OK. I traced the wiring a little further and found where two wires White/Yellow and Green/Yellow go into the top box and to the Power distribution board in the center of the top box. With this one un-plugged and J 19 back on the motherboard, it boots up.

Now what is J5 on the Power Distribution board P/N 75802940

The top three 2-pin headers on the PDB are J5, J6, and J7 are 25Vdc outputs -
basically for fluorescent lighting.
The wire colors on that row are usually orange and black.

That's the one. Unplug the top box florescent from that and probably the candle also. I've had shorted candle wiring take a game down on me before. As mentioned earlier, probably the ballast on that top box florescent, but could be either one. For that matter, it could be your amp board too.

Thanks everyone.
Pictures ARE worth a thousand words.
I was able to see from Cowboys pictures that someone had some wiring mixed up.
It should be correct now as everything appears to plugged in correctly and the machine powers up.
I got the Call Attendant on the display, So I installed a Key 31 chip.
It would not light both upper amber led, only the second one and the VFD reads "Display's NETPLEX link is down"

So what's not connected now?

First thing to check is that the power supply is fully seated and tight along with all other boards, including cabinet and door IO boards

OK, Maybe I don't have all the wiring that I need.  Scratch Head
I have a connection to Netplex in, but no connections on the three Nexplex out connectors.
Where should the Netplex out be connected to?

I added pics above of my machine. I moved the speaker wires out of the way and tried to keep the other organized so you could see where they are going.

Thanks, Ya I get the power in and power out.
Then you have the Nexplex in, but I don't have any Netplex out.
Could I be missing a wire harness for something on Netplex out that is causing my error of "Display's NETPLEX link is down" on the VFD?

Netplex link is down  on the vfd is usually a bad power supply or partial power   the netplex out on the distribution board is not needed  it is just a jumper. do you have 12v and 24v at distribution board at power in

Yes, I have the 13VDC and the 24VDC
Now remember the error of netplex down is only displayed when I attempt to use a Key 31 chip.
Top amber light never comes on and the second amber led illuminates.

Otherwise with the game chip installed and the door closed I get the Call Attendant displayed.

Neon,
Cowboy is right about the Power distribution board in the topbox -
it's just for candles, fluorescents and other stuff.
I really has nothing to do with your blue VFD display on the door.

There's a ribbon cable on the back of the VFD on the right near the door hinge...
is it pushed into the VFD solid?
It sounds like that ribbon cable is partially out and off some of the pins inside the connector?

Would you have a different keychip to try?

Chip not installed will cause the nexplex link error.

Robert I'm tired and am not going to read all this thread but, you install the key 31 power up, vfd will display net plex down, (EVERY TIME ) remove the key 31 and install the base chip it should now go into key menu.
