S2000 System Error after moving my machine... Could it just be cold?

I had this S2000 out in my garage in storage for the past 2 months. The room its in right now is not heated. The room temp is only about 50 degrees.. The first time I turned it on I received a no display error in the coin payout meter. I turned it off and checked all the plugs, removed and reseated the mpu and turned it on again. The display came on, but now it says call attendant and when you open the door I'm getting a system error and the alarms going off till the door is closed? Could this machine just be too cold to work? Is there a temperature range these machines need to work in? I know if its too cold condensation could form when it warms up, but that's not the issue now, it could be just too cold.. I know that my Bally E-Series machine don't like to work if the rooms under 60 degrees.. Any ideas?? Should i warm the room to the mid 60's and try it again?? I was hoping to put it up for sale but I don't have a place to put it in the house with all the Christmas decoration out...

When I first bought my S2000...it was like 95 degrees outside.
I  ran it in my garage all summer until around late November when
I noticed it starting to act funny.
By that time the temperatures ran around 40-45 degrees for a couple of days.
Probably dipping to just above the freezing/frost mark in the wee hours.
I brought it into the house and everything cleared up.

I'd say yeah....it's too cold for the machine.

Unless it's really damn cold out you might have a bad cmos battery. Really no other reason for it to loose ram memory in storage

I tried the reset key, but didn't try doing the 3 second reset. I'll try that tomorrow. Plus see if I can heat up the back room to 60+, if not it has to come into the house... Is there any thing else that might cause a system error message?

Loss of memory or a mismatch error... The cause of the error should appear when you turn the reset key. Remember you'll need to have the door open when you turn the key, and each time you turn the key it will move forward with messages and instructions. Oh and also it will shut it up.

You guys are gonna laugh when you see this...I can't believe I actually found it! LOL
No wonder my machine started acting funny a couple of years ago when the temperatures
in my garage were fluctuating around 40-45 degrees...

Thanks for that temp operating table for the IGT's... That's some interesting information.. It looks like my machine is right on the edge of being too cold.. I'm going to check to see if the battery died on it.. Is there a battery holder and a button style battery that works good as a replacement on the MPU that anyone has used?

Well just checked the battery's voltage and it 2.81v.. Would that be enough of a drop in voltage to cause my problem?

maybe, maybe not...it depends really on how far it dropped
before it spiked back up to the voltage you've read.

Somewhere, I've actually seen an IGT note giving the specific voltage drop
the MPU needed before it sent a error code out to the display.
I don't recall the exact voltage number offhand.

I've had to replace at 2.8 before. Anything under the 3v rating can be a problem, especially with the cold temps involved.

Even after adjusting to room temp the battery is still only at  2.86v so I guess I'll  go ahead a replace it. Does anyone have a source or place to get replacement? I was thinking of buying the style of battery holder that allows the battery to just snap in and out for easy replacement at a later date, instead of soldering every time.

If 2.86 volts is low, I must be in serious trouble and didn't know it.  I'm sure glad my machines can't read or they would all want a new battery for Christmas.

I remember reading about this in that slot tech magazine but I don't have a subscription to it.
Would anyone have any old copies I could read?
There was something there like an IGT note saying that the when the onboard battery voltage dropped to a certain point -
an error code would be sent to the display.
