Pardon the obvious answer, but couldn't you just not put a stacker box (cash can) in the machine and that would cause the validator to be disabled?

How about a set of sharp pliers? lol   just kidding
Pulling the DBV connectors would probably cause an error too.

With a working bill acceptor, it's very unusual for anyone to actually "disable" it?
Everybody's always asking here how to get the bloody things working!  Tongue Out

i just looked at a random Catch A Wave PSR and i didn't see anywhere to disable the BV.  hissy fit  i know its an option on newer GK programs but on the older 17 key programs i don't remember ever seeing it as operator selectable.  same goes for setting BV tilts to "hard" or "soft" otherwise the suggestion for puling the cashbox would work.  yes
i would also think that disconnecting the BV at the mobo would give you a "bill acceptor disconnected" tilt or something similar but it's worth a try if you don't find a better solution.

i keep expecting to see Jim from blueridge jump in here with a totally obvious solution that we should all have thought of.  bust gut laughing bust gut laughing Hail

It's dirty, but how about setting the DIP switches on the DBV to reject all denominations?

There MUST be a way to disable it because I've seen the machines at the Turning Stone casino near Syracuse -
they do not use coins OR bill acceptors.
The casino uses some sort of a debit card system which IMO really sucks because there's absolutely no hard cash flowing around...
you'll never find a $5 bill on the floor anymore!  hissy fit   rotflmao
