Video Slots

Hey... just a general question on video slots.  I am interested in maybe purchasing a video slot and was wondering which manufacturer would be the best and what the going price is for one.  Of course I want to spend as little as possible    I am within driving distance of Ohio.  Thanks in advance for any info.

Thats a good question. It's kinda like a choice between Ford,Chevy and Toyota. Most of them are good, some have better support.
It's pretty hard to beat a IGT Gameking in either a 13" or 17" display (tube or LCD). They can be set up to play 31 games from the basechip.
The Bally Gamemaker can play 10 games, but needs a chip for each of them on the CPU board. I have a Gameking, have owned a Gamemaker
and also own Sigmas and Atronics. The software support is not as open with them.

As I understand it, though -- and I'm no expert -- the Bally Gamemaker has a limit of 10 games per denomination, so in truth all 50 or so games can be accessed if they are spread out over the different denoms. This would never be done in a casino but it's a great idea for the home user. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

The Bally "GameMaker" uses a single chip per game, there are 10 sockets on the MPU P1 thru P10 for them
The IGT "GameKing" uses a basechip that holds 31 games in it. You can set 12 games per denom. I have mine set for 1cent,5cents,10cents,1dollar. This way you get all games and some in multiple denoms.either way you go, get the "Clear" chip for the game. For the GameKing you will need either a Key-17 or Key-31 chip (if I remember correctly).For the GameKing you will need a P-10 Clear chip.
There are a lot of people here that have these down to a science Your in good company .

If you want to spend as little as possible, then I believe the Bally GameMaker would be the best choice.
Why buy a single theme video game when you can have 10 games at once?
Seem to remember Dansgames had some at a good price at the ChicagoLand show.

I know when I finally can't stand it anymore and want a video slot it will most likely be a GameMaker. Would perfer a GameKing, but the cost is too prohibitive for me.

Kirk, check your previous post about the clear chips? Looks like you said GameKing instead of GameMaker?

Your right! my mistake..the GAMEMAKER needs the P-10 Clear chip installed in Socket 10 to clear the board.It's a real hassle too, have to reset the entire machine to add/change a single game

Actually you might be able to get away with a couple of game chip changes on the Gamemaker without the full clear. You would definitely have to use the clearchip if P10 is changed and might be needed if the bet denoms need to be set for the chip. But otherwise a soft clear of just flipping the 1,7,& 8 dips should work.  Now that I think about it some of the Mains might require a full clear on a game change but am a little fuzzy on that.

I just talked to a 74 year old lady on the phone and she was able to change one of her games out on her Game Maker. This was her first time which it took about 30 minutes, but she was able to do it!
