Installed a reel eprom and can't get the machine to boot up.  I have pressed the test button, restarted the machine and also used the reset key with no luck...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I thought you were changing to a different SS chip number, my bad.

Open the door and hold the test button for a couple of seconds, close the door and see what you get. I attached a chart that might help you. Click on to enlarge

The #3 reel tilt your getting, make sure nothing is rubbing the reel when the door is closed. If that doesn't work, try spraying the plug with contact cleaner. ( can't hurt )

I held the teest button for several seconds and still getting the same code...65-3.

As for the #3 reel on another machine, use electric motor contact cleaner...correct or do they make one for electronics?

Power up the machine. (with the door open)
To clear a [65-3] error code, turn the reset key once. (also with the door open)
The numbers should now display [65-2] or [65-1].
Now, hold the little white Test button for a few seconds. (with the door still open !)

Now...wait a few seconds for the reels to do it's "maiden spins", now...close the doorhide2
the reels may spin again after a few seconds and you ought to be good to go!

rotflmao  I've actually done it to see what would happen...  stir the pot / get cooking
There was no error codes or anything so it doesn't do anything with the door optics closed.
I cheated though...I used a cherry switch in place of the door optics.

Thinking about it, if I were to try to get to the Test button with the door closed and reaching in through the belly door -
I would have made a contortionist instructor proud... bust gut laughing

Just take the reek glass out and when the door is closed, you can access the test button
