Hello all, I am trying to restore a E-1243, this is my first slot, so I'll be needing a lot of help. When I got it; Drop a quarter in, does not register, no error codes on LED, test button and reset button do nothing. So on the advice I've read here (Thank You!) I checked the ribbon cables, found two bent pins (not in socket) I was able to straighten them and get it to set, still nothing... I started pulling chips and found the top most one had two bent pins and broke one while trying to straighten it. I am looking for advice on where to buy this chip and if anyone can see from the picture if it appears anything else is missing or looks wrong.

Hi Kevin. I have heard of soldering a broken pin back on a Eprom before. If this can be done you could make a new eprom made if you know someone with a prom burner. The other thing you can do is contact Barry Fox at Foxsslots, he might be able to help you with your problem.  Where are you in Michigan? I'm in the Detroit area

If the leg is broken about 1/2 down it can be  soldered back on, pretty easy fix. If broken at the top I have had some success recovering the data. I'm willing to try if you want to send it to the West Coast.

I suggest covering that window on the chip - the PROM will be erased if exposed to ultraviolet light!
