Press and hold in the white self test switch in for 3-4 seconds.

Close the door and turn the jackpot reset key once.

Welcome to the site!

 NLG Welcome

It sounds like you have a PE+ (Player's Edge Plus) poker machine -- I moved your topic to that category.

Ken (Ohio Gaming)'s reply should get you up and running, although you might have to repeat the process a second time if you get a secondary error message.

Let us know if you need any more help with your game.

Tks OhioGaming,  I did what you said and it worked. The machine was set up to just pay credits and its a 5 dollar machine and it only takes 100.00.    I tried a couple and it only excepted one. They are new bills and I'm wondering if I need older bills. I played 5 rounds of 25. then tried to put in same bill but it would not except it. My curiosty got the best of me so I start pushing buttons and I found the menu on that wonderful white button that made my game come to life. Well this is where the bad part comes in. I scrolled through the menu and tried the input test made sure all buttons work. Did output everything works. Ok so far than I got to the dreded credit, non credit screen and I change it to non credit. Than I tried bill again. after couple of tries it took it, but it wanted to pay me coins and the hopper started to spin, after awhile it stoped and message came up hopper empty. So I tryied to go back to the credit non credit menu and when I srolled through it isn't there anymore. Neither is a music screen and I believe another screen. It goes to some sort of color test screen. Now when I turn on machine it runs through everything and hopper turns and after awhile it sez hopper empty. How can I get that menu back to turn it back to credits.

Tks

you'll probably have to clear the credits before being able to access that option again.  load some coins into the hopper and let it finish paying out.

Correct.  You're stuck with the machine trying to pay out the coin(s) generated by you inserting a bill while the machine was set to "non credit" mode.

In a casino environment, if a machine was set to non credit, inserted bills would instantly be paid out of the hopper in the form of coins to be used in the machine.  As you can imagine, most machines were set to "credit" to allow bills to go straight to the credit meter.

Since your machine is trying to pay out money, you cannot change many settings (including the ones relating to credit/non-credit) until that payout is complete.

You said that it was set up as a $5 machine.  Most any "large coin" token will work in the hopper (provided you have an upright machine).  For example, if you have a nearby casino that uses large $1 tokens, you could likely get a few of those to run through your hopper and pay out what the machine is trying to pay.

If you have a slant top or bar drop-in machine, the escalator will be a little more picky about the exact size of the token you use.  I know you gave us a model number, but those typically don't help in the case of these machines -- what type of machine do you have (upright, slant-top ("sit-down"), or bartop drop-in)?  If you're not sure, post a picture of the machine and we can help you identify it.

i think i remember using a paperclip to clear credits on an S2000 once.  i think i jumped the coin out sense pin to ground and then the game thought it was paying through the hopper; had to do it for every credit but it got the job done.  it's been several years since i did that so i'm not 100% sure and the S2000 is not the same as your PE+ but there might be a similar trick to get rid of your credits.  i don't have any documentation on the PE+ but i'm sure someone here has the wiring diagram and can help! yes

The cheepo way to deal with this is to simply duct tape a piece of card board (like from a shirt box) onto the hopper wheel.
As the wheel turns the cardboard passes through the hopper optics making it think a coin has passed through.
If you want to get fancy you can create a slotted disk, as this has multiple points the PE will appear to pay faster than a single cardboard flap passing through.

To note, this method will work with an upright machine and hopper, but not with a slant-top or bartop drop-in hopper where the optics are closer to the coin exit at the top of the coin escalator.  propeller

Thanks Guys, I will try the cardboard trick, Yes I do have an upright model so I'm good there, I'm not really sure exactly how I have to place it but i know I'll figure it out. Doesn't the payout sensor have to be intermittent when paying out to count coins. Am I correct in assuming the payout sensor is just sensing movement through it, and not a coin validater and assumes if a coin is in the hopper it already has been validated? so if I can find something that will physically fit through it maybe like a poker chip or a washer it might work also?

Thanks again guys, I hope I donated enough to the site and will again as I use it, This is a great site and a great group of people. If the country was run like the people who run and participate on this site, this would be as great country as it once was.  I love my country but hate the way it's being run. Seems like no matter what party is running it.  And for the people who aren't donating come on people we all have to pay a little so some don't have to pay allot.  I hope I didn't over step my boundarys by giving my option.

Magic-

On behalf of Joey who owns the site and all the great members here, thank you for tossing a couple of bucks into the pot to help keep the site going!

As far as the coin out sensor on the hopper, look for a small black horseshoe shaped device with wires coming out of it on the top side of the hopper where coins would exit the hopper.  That's the hopper (coin-out) optics.  You are correct with your statements that it senses coins passing through it, that it will create an error if you just fix something in there without it intermittently passing through, and that it doesn't validate the coins coming out -- just the simple fact that something passed through the optics.

Here's a picture of what the actual optic part looks like.  It will be secured to your hopper with a screw or bolt:

One way you can cheat it temporarially to get past your current issue would be to detatch it from the hopper (unscrew the screw(s)/bolt(s) holding it to the hopper) and route it outside of the machine without the wires getting pinched when you close the door (if possible -- I know it can be done on an S+, not sure about a PE+ door configuration).  Once it's outside of the machine, close and latch the door.  When you hear the hopper starting to spin to try and pay out the coins it's trying to pay, flip a piece of paper or cardboard through the "horseshoe" of the optics to break and make the signal to simulate coins being spit out of the machine.  The machine will think it has paid out coins and once you reach the number of coins it is trying to pay out, the machine will be ready to play again.

Thanks Guys, I was going to try the cardboard trick, but couldn't figure out how to tape it to the hopper, since the optics are on the outside of the hopper. I did bring home a couple of washers, I believe they were 5/8" washers, I know they were 1 3/4" in diameters, lightly grinded one side of them, the side that has a slight burr on it from when they punch them out(I believe it would of fit anyway). A 1 dollar token isn't big enough to requested on the meter. Turned it on, it counted them out and then it let me go through the menu and I reset it to credits, and with all of your guys help I now have a working machine.

It's amazing how much joy you get when you get one of these machine to work. I think I found a new hobby (I think I'm better at this ,than going to the casino, I know it's a lot less expensive or maybe I better learn how to play poker better  LOL
Thanks again and happy gaming

Hey hey, congratulations!

May I offer a suggestion at this point?  You may want to slightly pop out the cherry switch that is in the bottom of the cash out button (do so from the inside of the front door) so that you can't accidently press it when you have a bunch of credits on the machine (causing a similar situation to crop back up where the machine will want to cash out credits).

Also, set your hopper limit (and credit limit) really high -- like to 9999 -- to ensure that the hopper won't try to activate in the future.  Note that you will not be able to change the hopper/credit limit with any credits on the machine, so play any credits you have down to zero, then enter the self-test menu to make changes.
