I've seen that code get stuck both ways Poppo...
I usually have a Clear chip on hand to rub it out and get the train back on track.

I sort of wish I could get stuck in one so I could try and figure out just what is wrong. Without a clear chip, I would like to find an alternate way to get it working. I would probably try things like pulling the reel chip to force a reel chip error in the hopes that it will 'unstick' the 61.

Ok, after you have gone through the menus and it goes back to the 61, try clearing it again (don't pull the CMOS though).

And if that doesn't work, then see my post above and I'll send you the chips.

By pulling the reel chip, I mean to leave it out when you power up, so the machine errors. Try to clear the 61 first if that comes up before the reel chip error. Then put it back in and try to clear any errors. Be sure not to plug it in the wrong way. If none of that works, I guess it's time for a clear as my bag-o-tricks is empty.

I have no clue WHY it happens - it,( the Loop) happens sometimes.

Here's something that happened at work that may be somehow related?
Remember we talked about how sometimes you can't get the optics to work with certain SP chips while using the Door Optics Bypass Harness?
Well, today I had a regular Type 0 SP game that I wanted to try in my test machine.
The MPU threw out the [66] code (expected that because I change the SP right?)
So... I turned off the machine and powered back up.
Then I got all those other ones like [65-3] (turn key) [65-2] (open door press test button)
[61]...press test again [61-1]
Now all you gotta do is close the door and turn the key right?
NO GO!   Tongue Out
It was like as if I blew out the optics!
However, I quickly pulled the Bypass and went live into the real door optics.
Easy to do as I've never physically removed the optics from their mounts and my Bypass Harness routes inside the machine under the reel shelf with zip ties - I can very quickly do an optic swap.

Once the optics Molexs are swapped from the Bypass to the real optics, I closed the door, turned the key and voila!
[61-1] goes away!
Once the MPU booted up and the reels did their "maiden spins", I opened the door, swapped back to cherry switch Bypass, closed the door and I was immediately back in game mode?

What I learned is that somehow, a logic signal got stuck somewhere -
it doesn't necessarily have to do with "certain" chips.
See the similarities with this and the [61] or [61-1] loop?

Good. That is what you should have gotten. I am just hoping that maybe by forcing a different error it might help get it unstuck.

Be careful now...
with all this testing - you're liable to offhanded forget to turn off the power switch
when removing/installing the MPU.
God bless, I know I've done it!  rotflmao

Ok..

Turned off power

Pulled MPU

Put mack in reel chip

Put back in the MPU.

Still get the error 61..

The error 61 wont clear and let me go to the error 61-1 unless i pull the CMOS chip.

Well, looks like it's time for a clear chip. Just PM me if you want one.

I'm assuming pulling the CMOS again still didn't help.

It won't do anything (i.e. it will apear dead) since the game chip contains the main program.

Check your PM.

There may be coins stuck behind the knife, or not enough coins in the hopper. The last 50 or so may not come out.

<edit> Since this is a slant top, you may have an elevator problem. I'm not that familiar with them, so someone else may have to chime in.

Maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks, but it looks like the pinwheel is on backwards. The nubs should be on the front so they can grab the coins. Also it looks like it may have too small of a shelf wheel for quarters. The wheel needs to be able to grab a coin from the  hopper and have it ride on the shelf wheel to the top.

<edit> After looking at the last picture the shelf wheel may be the right size.

You will have to take off the knife and those three screw in the middle. Then flip it around (just the pinwheel).

Glad you got it working.  applause

As an FYI to the others following this thread, since we never did figure out what game chip was in there, I went ahead and gave him a SP1271 (and a higher % reel chip) along with the clear chip. He also has the link to the 'common SP1271 settings' thread, so he should be good to go.
