I have repeatedly run the clear chip several times before replacing with the SB chip!

I remove the Clear Chip and replace with my SB Chip.  Once I get the “RAM ERROR".  I turn the set Key (4) four times.  Now I get a message that says "PRESS TEST SWITCH FOR 2-3 SECONDS".  I proceed by pressing the small white button on the MPU for 3 seconds then release.  Now the message on the LED now reads "CLOSE MAIN DOOR".  I proceed and making sure the lever is pressed down with force to make sure it is fully seated.

Now the Door LED reads "TESTING MEMORY".  When it is finished I get a message that reads "CALL ATTENDANT".  At this point I open the main door again.  I immediately get an Alarm again.  I proceed, keeping the door open, and turn the Reset Key (3) three times.  After a few moments the reels spin machine reboots and I get a message stating coin-in jam door open m. I never get the message MACHINE TYPE MISMATCH which I should!! I never get to remove the SB chip and replace with key chip!!

I’m lost don’t know what the problem is!  Can’t get a complete clear on this machine!

I keep getting the error message coin-in jam door open m and the machine will not do a complete clear!!

Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Richard

Does your machine have coin handling stuff or is it coinless?

Do you have the coinless bypass connector attached to the harness?

And did you go into the key setups and enable coinless mode?

Richard,

I've experienced weirdness with clear/key procedures before that I cannot explain.  I have one combination that's REALLY strange.  Whenever I switch from my 3CM Double Diamond Deluxe to my 3CM Crystal Sevens, the clear/key procedure does not play nicely.  The only way I can get around it, is to perform a clear/key with a completely different theme.

My .02, try the key/clear with another theme and see what happens.  If another theme clear/keys fine, go back to your orignal theme that you were working with, and see if it takes.

Is this a 3 or 5 reel machine? I had the same thing driving me crazy on a 5 reel. It was a bad display.

If you have another MPU board I would try it. You can also unplug the plug behind the winner paid window then try to clear. If that display is bad you could get coin in tilt error. Hope this helps.

Richard  I know there is one set of instructions out there that does it a different way, but I go from the clear chip, to the key chip, to the SB chip ( in that order ) and seem to always have good results.

Richard  I posted this two days ago.   http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=16668.msg141287#msg141287  If your doing a clear for a coin error you might be chasing your tail.   Scratch Head Scratch Head

I agree with this, ran into the same error tonight. Was working on a new machine and pressed the cash out button and the machine is coinless. Had to do a clear 3 -4 times to be sure, then key31 and sb. Make sure you set the coinless to enabled or you will be in a loop.

Richard  Just a thought, but maybe you ARE getting a complete "clear" but the coin error is sticking it's ugly head up as soon as you install the SB chip.  Door IO and the displays is where I would check.

Buzz your help on using the clear chip, key chip!  I believe this has worked. Machine has not had the coin-in jam and any other error yet. I hope this fixed it.
I received the machine not working end of December, the seller said it was working just fine when he shipped it. +1 (Karma, or whatever)
I will let you know.
Thanks, Richard

If what the seller said was true, then whoever packed it for shipping - changed something?

How would a machine get an "Coin-In Jam" error from shipping?

I think a couple of UPS guys opened it up started playing with it for a couple of days
then decided to slap some packing tape on it and deliver it to you?  rotflmao

Hey, they played it so much that they got the coin-in jam error!!  rotflmao
Machine was received with credits on it, when I powered it up got the coin-in jam error.
I believe Buzz's suggestion has fixed it! I hope!  Clear chip, key chip and base chip.
Thanks to all! Clap Clap

IF I use a clear chip
I do it in this order and usually do not have a problem.

1 Clear chip
2 Base chip
3 Set what I can set
4 key chip
5 base chip
6 +finish all the key menu settings I have to adjust. which is 80 percent or more. I have my own TITO working.

I use to do it this way to and it worked fine. But when you get a weird one like the coin out error, Buzz's way works better in that case.

Clear chip at least 3 times in a row
key chip
base chip
key chip again if you missed any little settings

I had a Coin in Jam on my Vision Ready the day I got it,
The Vendor had me try many things including clearing it about 6 times.
I even tried it when I was working on it without his help.
Nothing we tried solved the issue.

I had prepared to remove the mother board and inspect it, by disconnecting every plug to the M/B.
I decided not to remove the motherboard and since I was not sure where every connector went.
I carefully figured out what each was and put it in the proper connection.
I even removed and re installed the MPU, Door and Cabinet I/O (probably the 10th time I had done it)
Powered up still had the coin in jam
turned it off I decided to leave it alone for a day or two.
Came back to it a day or two later, powered it up, no more coin in jam.

Note CMOS RAM chips in the S2000 looses data almost immediately. when you remove them from the board.
The EEPROM on the motherboard is considered a permanent storage device (by IGT and various gaming jurisdictions) but once the Clear chip gets done with it.
It is cleared, as long as you use the proper clear chip (97 or later)

IF you have a programmer capable of programming/testing/erasing the 24C16. The GQ-2/3/4X can do it. Buzz I suspect your Batronix can as well.
Test it, and erase it (fill with FF) and remove and re-install the CMOS RAM chips (you just cleared the machine)

I do not know the complex logic that goes on between the door I/O and the main CPU on the MPU but I suspect the SENET chip, most likely a another Micro controller is buffering any Coin in / out jam errors.

Foster  I'm going to post two pictures of the same machine. First one is of the machine in playing order with a 5 line display in place of where I need a 9 line display. ( I don't have a spare one ) Second picture is the same machine but with a bad 9 line display. Please note a coin error in the second picture.  Now you can talk until the cows come home and you will not convince me a chip is causing this error on my machine.  All I did was switch a good display for a bad display.
