I have a 1996 Double wild cherry IGT slot machine that takes Fannini slot tokens right now.  If I were to buy a mix of real slot tokens from a bunch of casinos, would it work in my machine if I change the comparator to one of the casino slot tokens?  Basically my question is, would a token from say MGM work with a token from Imperial Palace thats in the coin comparator?   Thanks for your help, and does anyone know where to get $1 slot tokens?

Also would Ike dollars work in the machine without any mods besides the comparator coin being changed?

Used to be, back in the day, you could walk from casino to casino and use your tokens. They'd buy them back from each other, so the coin comparitors obviously didn't care. Not sure if this holds true anymore Scratch Head

Fisch, I have plenty of nice gold $1 tokens for sale if interested, they are also Fannini so they are guaranteed to work.

The coin comparator compares the metallic content of the sample coin to the metallic content of the coin being dropped into the slot.  You can turn the sensitivity down on the comparator which will make it more likely to accept a coin that is "close", however if you have two tokens of vastly different metallic content, chances are that it will get rejected.

I'm not sure of the size of Ike dollars -- if they're similar in diameter then they should work.  If they're decently smaller or larger, though, they'll likely get jammed in the hopper.

The ones I'm using now are 1.472    the Ike ones are 1.202    Do you think they would jamm up in the hopper?

Ikes are  1.5 inches (38.1 mm) in diameter , thats way different from your 1.202

edit  1.205 is Half dollar size (50 cent)

that was a dumb mistake,   Silly Me!   Now that I look on the back of the coin, it's a half dollar

I'll have to go find some Ike's now and try it.
