S2000 Reel Glass Lighting area

There's something that's always bugged me about reel slots... 
The reel glass lighting area.

I am always slightly disappointed viewing my machine from a distance.
I like to sit back and watch my S2000 play credits while on "Auto-Play".
I have somewhat of a difficult time seeing the bottom half of the strip symbols
because of they way they've placed the fluorescent lamp up on top of the reel glass on the door.
The light is excessively strong on the top half of the strips but really sucks on the lower half because of the round reels.

Could there be reasonable way to hook up a smaller diameter fluorescent tube that could run along the bottom in such a way to direct more light onto the bottom half of the reel strips?
I know there's restrictions due to the VFD display panel - perhaps a flat, oblong mirror running flat on the top
of the display would direct more light onto the bottom half of the reels?
Or LEDs glued to the back of the reel glass?
I've seen WMS use a really nice yellow light on their reel glasses that run right around the reel openings on the reel glass.
They really know how to enhance the lighting on their reel strips!

And from across the house

WMS solved this problem by having the reel back lighting on all the time, then it turns off to indicate a win. Seems to me that would dramatically shorten the bulb life but I see more back light bulbs out on IGT's than on WMS.

Too bad you couldn't have something along these lines, have the winning reels turn red as the reels stop, like WMS has done with the respin games.

You could if you tapped some red led strips into the reel lighting and fastened them to the back of the reel glass:)

The kids are sticking the longer, flexible ones in their headlights.

Try wrapping a filter film around the tube. This will take some of the glare off of the top of the reels and help distribute the light below.

Or switch to the LED lights made for that. Also gives a really nice look to the reel glass and highlights reel backlighting on winning reels in my opinion
