On one of my s2000 machines, the topper lights up but the chaser lights will not come on. Must be something with the machine itself because it works fine in another machine. Any ideas?

there are 2 differant voltages that go to the topper  one for the florescent and one for the chaser lights i think 13v and 25v ?  check with a meter to see if both are there . Does to topper plug into the top box or a power distribution board

You need to check the connections at Power Distribution board if that is where you are plugging in the topper.
there are 4 pin and 2 pin connectors on the distribution board that are usually used to power other components including toppers
There should be 2 harnesses that come from the machine.
One comes from the left side of top box(or just left of center
it is for the netplex ports (data and power)
The other one comes from the right side and powers the 2 and 4 pin connectors on the dist board, as well as poering the Sound Amp.

Then check the wiring that powers the power distribution board.

I gather the machine is working otherwise?

I beleive those chaser lights have a pc mount fuse on the board inside the topper right where the power leads plug in. You might take the topper apart and check that also if you find you have power going to the topper.

My topper does plug into the power distribution board, the machine works just fine. I can take another known working topper and plug it in and get the same results, fluorescent works but the chaser lights do not

Take the harness that plugs into the Power Dist Board and Sound Amp and the machine on the right side (it is  the power harness for the dist board and amp)
it has 4 wires going to the power dist board (orange, red, black/orange, black/red) and Amp (red, black/red) and swap it into another machine.
also trace it back to the the connector at the top box and check your voltages there
The only other place to check them is the at the power supply output.
since that top box connector power comes straight from the power supply at least on my S2000.

Unless otherwise noted for the S2000 but may not apply to non IGT harnesses or parts.
Red +13V DC
Black/red Ground
Orange +25V
