Kondy is right. ANYTIME you take apart a uba to fix the hardware within, clean it well, and calibrate it. It will reset the uba's optical sensors as well as the magnetic sensor and the uv sensor back to factory default. It will work like new again.

Kondy is right. ANYTIME you take apart a uba to fix the hardware within, clean it well, and calibrate it. It will reset the uba's optical sensors as well as the magnetic sensor and the uv sensor back to factory default. It will work like new again.

It's not entirely true ... Do not matter, because swap american style works everywhere around Smiley

Kondy, can you explain to me why the post you made and the one that I made is not entirely true? I have had issues with uba's where they would not complete a full cycle. No matter what I did to remedy the uba, the failing cycles and bill acceptance rates were poor. Even after a good cleaning the problem remained. It wasn't until I calibrated the uba did it work again.

In my opinion, it does matter to fix something rather than swapping the problem around to fix it temporarily and leave it for someone else to repair. Not every American is a swapnician. Smiley

My deleting contribution what to do if calibration with cleaning not helping.

LEDs used in sensor boards gradually grow old (with the increase of the number of hours operation - luminosity leds -decline parameters worsening), therefore it is necessary to calibrate (clean eyes will not help).
What do you do when the brightness drops so low that the calibration is not successful after cleaning?
Each owner / user waits this fact when UBA reaches the age of 5-6 years in use (some earlier, some later).
Therefore, I tagging parameters UBA sensor boards during calibration.
If to specifically uba during end of the calibration process was the message "Please clean Sensors", then luminance of these LEDs in sensors is low, although calibration is possible, there is a shorter time to reuse a problem with reading bills.

example:
- New UBA first reading disorder occurs after 3-4 years of use. New sensor boards have sensors in the parameters values ​​MAX 7 (typical 2-6) on a scale to 15,

This old UBA has problems with the bills accepts / complete cycle after about one year after calibration and cleaning, because the old sensors are more sensitive to little dust (compared new sensor boards 3-4 years) 

Each user sooner or later waiting for to swap sensor boards, but is also cheaper option.

So my contribution concerned the supply of spare leds, mag heads as a cheaper solution versus swap new complete sensor boards.

You understand my efforts?

Thank you Kondy for the explanation. I agree, the uba is only as good as it's sensor board's  led's. It relies on that technology too much. I have a couple of uba's that after calibration keep saying "please clean optics". I replace one of the upper or lower sensor boards and after calibration it goes away. I have looked at the expensive sensor boards themselves but never suspected the led's themsleves. Please do not delete your posts anymore. Thank you. Hail

Most casinos would love to have your contacts for the replacements. The fact is, most casinos in America buy the next best thing. They would rather buy something like the Ivizion, to upgrade their uba's, instead of repairing what is already on the shelf. What a shame!

My opinion on Ivizion is that JCM was quickly tried to sell untested product BV but have not been properly tested, so it is with them more problems than good.

If casinos have lot money, let him buy a BV made of gold Smiley
But I think it's still cheaper to have a good team of technicians compared to constantly buy new things.
It is better to know the good old things, doing regular maintenance and be the great reliability.

The Ivizion does have one thing going for it, it's easier to service than the UBA. I do like how they went back to the removable head feature much like the WBA. It only takes about 1 to 2 hours to almost completely dismantle a jcm uba to replace the centering guide. As if technicians have that kind of time?

I'm in total agreeance with you on the "having a good team of technicians compared to buying new parts is cheaper". A good team of technicians can save casinos A LOT of money, considering how expensive most parts are in the casino industry. The technicians are what make or break any given casino with their knowledge of old and new electronic repair techniques.

Discouraging technicians from fixing things seems to be happening more than with just bill validators. Look at the surface mount technology. The companies that produced circuit boards used to use thru-hole technology. They must have seen their profits getting smaller thanks to technicians and decided to "make things smaller". As if that would stop technicians from figuring out a way to repair and remaster their shoddy boards. I agree with you on the JCM going bankrupt if they continue their business plan. Casinos are not stupid, they will eventually realize that upgrading to newer and better bill validators gets pricey. They will turn to other manufacturers like MEI.
