IGT Haywire Questions?

I have an IGT Haywire slot that I have a couple questions on.

1) The machine has a hopper and its currently taking tokens.  But it doesnt register all the tokens in the hopper.  If I have approx 50 tokens in there and the machine pays out it may only spit out like 10-15 and then get code 3300.  Even though there is enough tokens in the hopper.  I have to constantly open up the machine and move the tokens around.  Any reason or advice on this?

2) The coin mech has a token in it that sets the right size for the coin mech.  If I replaced the token with a quarter or a nickle would the machine then register the coins instead of the tokens?  The current token is just a tad larger than a quarter.  Didnt know if its as simple as that or more too it.

3) The machine has a bill acceptor but I believe its DOA.  If I put a new one in would it register $$$ so I could avoid the whole token , coin in thing?

You CAN change the token to a quarter or nickel and it will then accept one or the other although if you go to nickels you'll have to change the wheel in the hopper to match. Why your hopper won't empty before it shows empty isn't uncommon as the parts in it start to wear out though having 10 to 15 coins left when it shows empty really isn't uncommon. Does your bill validator cycle when you turn the machine on? If it does, it may just not be enabled. If it doesn't, it may be a power supply problem or a bad BV. Which model is installed?

Yeah it does cycle on startup but after that nothing.  I'll have to check the model on it.

Yup! Because it has a hole in the door and a bill acceptor - it's an S+

When those were on the live casino floors - the hoppers held around 2,000 to 3,000 quarters in there!
If the coin divertor didn't work, the entire inside of the cabinet could be filled with quarters about 6 inches deep! 

The S+ hopper don't work too well with a handful of coins - wasn't designed to.
They WILL get the [3300] empty hopper error code if you let them get THAT low.

You can see that they like to lay flipped over 45 degrees opposite the wheel shelf.
The last few remaining coins will just sit there until an attendant re-fills the hopper with a bagful of coins.
The weight of the extra coins pushes the coins flat against the hopper wheel
and the wheel nibs grab the coins...to move them to the top of the wheel.

As the others said, the hopper usually won't pay out every last coin.  On the other hand, it should only leave up to about 10 of them in there typically -- not 40+.  Can you take a picture of your hopper?  I'm wondering if the agitator is bad, although on the other hand there really aren't enough coins in there to agitate...

Since you said you weren't sure, I'll confirm it for you -- you have an IGT S+ 9" upright slot machine with an embedded bill validator.
