Is there a manual on changing the battery or something special I need to do to fix it?

Nope, just pull out the battery and change it.
You might get some error codes like [61] but there's a Rick's FAQ
on top of the home page of NLG that will guide you through it.

Assuming for the moment that you're not familiar with slot machines or changing the battery, allow me to dumb it down a little bit.

You can't just "pull" the battery -- it is soldered to the removable MPU board.  You must use a soldering iron to remove the old battery and solder a new battery (or a battery holder) to the board.
