When you get to that sound setting, pushing the cashout button doesn't lower the volume at all? Does the cashout button work during normal game play?

That is a strange deal. The only permissive for adjusting volume is that you have the machine turned on and be in the correct menu. Not sure what would hold you out on that. Beyond a resolution from someone who's experienced that problem before I guess as a last resort I might try a forced reset by swapping the ram chips on the MPU board, although I want to stress that this would be a last resort used only after waiting to see what other members might have to offer for altenate ideas on this

:72-other alternative is take board out and pop out the battery.......that will cause you to do a jackpot key reset which should bring volume back to a default level....i find it very strange for the volume not changing........i keep mine on 5 and its loud at times..... you need ear plugs for it being on 10

Wayne put together a great video around this a few months ago.  See if this helps.

Problem solved moved socket for service button and it snaped in place now sound adjustment works great.  Now if i can figure out the Reversed coin detected message from hopper i will be good to go. Thanks to every one for the help. A great site.

"Coin-Reversed" error...Hmm...  Scratch Head 3
Did the error actually say "...from hopper" ?
Because that would be very unusual.

The hopper only has one set of optics as it doesn't have the capabilities to detect reverse"direction".
However, the "Coin-In" optic circuit boards under the coin mechanism can sense direction as they have 2 sets of "A" & "B"optics.
This prevents fraudulent activities such as a "stringed coin" coming up through the coin optics.

If the coin comes up through the 2 pairs of sensors passing the "B" optics first - the machine goes into alarm.
Check and see if there's some paper of human hair stuck in between the coin-in optics boards.
Yes, I did NOT type that wrong...human hair.... rotflmao

This happens every time coins are paid out thru hopper. Some times after 20 some time after 30 etc, etc.  Open door give hopper a little shake and good to go for 20 or 30 more coins.

I wish you would have verified that the message said "Coin-Reversed Detected From Hopper" on the blue VFD screen...oh well.
You need to take the hopper apart and find out what's wrong with it.
Time to get down and dirty.
Most fully-functioning and well-maintained hoppers can pay out thousands of coins before jamming up-
not just 20 or 30 coins.

How many coins do you have in it?

About 550. The message was - Reverse coin detection- only comes up when hopper is feeding coins. stops machine and have to open door and stir coins around then it will continue paying.

Well...you certainly have enough coins in there.
That means the agitator will actually "agitate" the coins to get them onto the wheel faceplate.
As the coins reach the top, do they go through under a roller that has a lever-type mechanism
on the back of the hopper over the motor?

That roller is attached to a lever which moves downward through a set of optic eyes.
Each time a coin pushes up on the roller, the lever moves downwards through
the eye optics sending one credit signal to the MPU to register it.
Please check to see if the lever is bent and hanging up on the optics?
That may cause a "timing" issue and thereby (or therefore?) forcing the MPU to send out an error to the display screen.

As Bunker said earlier, the only reverse coin detection is in the coin-in optics, not with the coin-out (hopper). I don't doubt you with your description of what is happening, but the reason why the hopper starts working again is because you're opening and closing the main door to reset the coin-in related error, not because you're stirring the coins.

The real question is, why are you getting a coin-in related error when the hopper runs?

Do you have another machine that you can (with the power off) swap coin-in optics to see if the problem follows the optics? A coin-in bypass harness would also work for that test.

I think opening/closing the door optics resets the error message.
But stirring up the coins manually gets his coins onto the hopper wheel faceplate.

The hopper optics only count coins as they pass through it.
They are capable of sensing if it takes too long for coins to pass through.
If this happens, he would get a different message such as "Empty Hopper" or "Coin-Out error".
But there's no way the hopper can output a "Reverse-Detect" error because it's NOT capable of doing that.

So....there seems to be some sort of miscommunication between the hopper optics and coin-in optics
that is causing the MPU to display that error.
I agree with knagl in that I would be suspecting a problem w/the coin-in optic boards under the coin comparator -
they are the only machine components that can send out the "Reverse-Detect" error.

Isn't reverse detect meant to catch the quarter on a string trick? I would suspect a comparitor/coin optics problem or IO board problem, but if it's triggered only when the hopper runs it could be in the motherboard as this is the only point that ties the cabinet IO and door IO boards together in the same place

Yup cowboy!
I mentioned that in Reply #11...!

I totally agree with both you and knagl here.
I'm kinda hoping it's a much less expensive money money problem than I/O and MPU boards though...  rotflmao
