I have an In The Money machine that upon power up the reels calibrate and the bill acceptor cycles and goes to ready to play mode, but the bill acceptor will not show that it is enabled (no green light) This is a coinless machine and I just need to enable the bill acceptor so it can be played. The coins switch is in the up position on the mpu board as well. I am using a WBA type acceptor if that matters

Thanks,

David

Hi David,
I would suspect the main board is bad.  Did you try another board at all?

Thanks,

I just got this board in from Bob-Raz, another vendor/member here and it should be a good working board.

DIP Switch DS2 SW5 — SW6 (Bill Acceptor)

SW5 ON SW6OFF  JCM WBA

if the dips are correct and you have another board handy, I would try it.  I assumed that there aren't any codes present, but maybe I should have asked?  I should have also asked that you check the pins at the rear of the board to ensure none of them became bent.

dip switches are correct, no codes present, all pins on the board are fine. I am not seeing any led lights inside the bill acceptor if that helps any.

are all dips up in the BV? is the BV known to be good?  Does it have 003 software?

all dip switches on the bill acceptor are in the up position, not completely sure if the BV is good. How can I check the software version?

The problem may be the head/transport combination. I have a WBA 12/13 SS transport and a WBA 13 head. Could that be it?

This is a long shot but is the bill validator wiring harness to the back board for a WBA 12/13 because if it is an older WBA 10/11 harness they are different.

No, the head is the same.  is there a chip in the transport?  does it have writing on it?  If not, do you have a programmer to read it? if so, then the software info is in the data on the chip.

you can also check to be sure the harness is connected fully to the backplane (behind the right reel).

Do you have any other Ballys or are you new to them?

He stated that the BV cycles(initial post).  If the connector was for a 10 or 11, then it wouldn't.

it does not have a chip in the transport so I suppose it is the flased type. I do not have a progarammer to check it unfortunately or have another Bally 6000 here at my house to try swapping bill acceptors. I do have a transport that is marked "Bally" on it on a piece of masking tape, however, when i install that particular transport in the machine, it won't even cycle at all, it is also the flashed type as well.

I do have a WBA 11 transport that will take a chip in the bottom of the unit, but there is no chip in it and it has the female connector at the left rear so it would not connect correctly inside the housing for the bill acceptor though.

Your location isn't shown so I don't know who is near you. I'm not sure who you get your machines from, but they can likely check your Bv for you.  If not, you may need to send it to be checked and/or flashed.

I now have a known working bil lacceptor in the machine, have red led lights on inside the unit, but it still does not cycle or get to ready to play mode. I checked the harness behind the 3rd reel, checked cas can connections and all look fine. I can't really swap cpu boards because my other machine is a triple bonus frenzy 4 reel game and this one is a 3 reel, so it would just be looking for that 4th reel upon power up. Any other ideas as to what may be the problem?

Thanks,

David

Is the small chrome Switch on the mpu in the up position?  Was this the bv from your other bally?

You could check your backplane for a broken trace, but after that I would try swapping the board from your other machine.

It seems as if the machine is not seeing the cashbox when it is in place, therefore the bill acceptor won't cycle.

I swapped the cpu from my other game and now the bill acceptor is working fine. I still have the original cpu, can I exchange any particular chips from the old cpu to the one that the bill acceptor is not working on to possibly correct the bv issue?

Thanks,

David
