Being a newbie at this, a crazy idea came accross my simple mind... Has anyone had any luck with making homebrew chips? Is it possible? Would like to stick a chip(s) in my IGT S plus  and have it win win win... lol

What you need is a tournament chip.
They average around a 1200% payback

IF you want to have a machine hit more often either find a tournament chip for your theme if it exists or try to get the chip that is about 98% or the best hit frequency which is stated in number of plays on average between wins in the IGT bible available from the main page (lower the number more often it should hit a winning combo)
Or look at getting a S2000 you can set it to highest percentage of about 98%,
FYI:  The higher the multiplier example Five Times Pay games or Ten Times pay games have more virtual stops per reel which means you see the 5x or 10x symbol less often on the pay line.

I haven't done it personally, however if you're enough of a programming geek, the SS chips can be modified (no need to hack the SP chips -- the SS chips hold all the reel stop and paytable information). The average home user can't do that, however, and using a tournament chip and tournament mode is the easiest way to get the machine to pay out constantly.
