Have a 2 coin 5xPay with SB Chip 100065 which loses the enhanced sound settings every time I turn the machine on.  I can set it up in the multimedia menu and it will play enhanced sounds all day long but when I power up again, back to normal sounds.

Not sure if it matters but I'm using Version Chip # VS009VX0 and a 16 MB DSV0042 SIMM on the MML board.

Tried 2 separate MML boards, same effect.

Also bill validator cycles but does not light or accept bills.  Swapped with known working validators still nothing.  Bill validator is enabled.  I just installed all the coin mechanics on this machine so it accepts quarters, which it does.  Have a feeling the non working bill validator has something to do with the settings.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mike

Cowboygames,

I'm not sure how to tell.  It says assembly number 75510501 Rev A.  There is no white sticker which I'm used to seeing.

My bill limit is set at 1000 credits.

Thanks,

Your probably on the right track.  Probably Using the wrong board.  Will try a 504 board.  Not sure if that will fix bill validator problem though.

Make sure you set the bill acceptor to "enabled"
It should do it on it's own though -
when the machine searches for the Netplex peripherals during the boot up mode??

Will do!  Switching boards now.  Going through complete clear, key chip procedure.

Thanks,

The board version you had in there was probably a 502 so unless it had an internal problem it should have been fine for your setup. And Bunker's right, as long as the BV is enabled the machine should find it at startup. After your clear and keychip be sure to go through all your limits and make sure they are set properly. As far as why it won't hold enhanced sound settings, I would suspect a connection problem with the sound simm to the multimedia board. Try cleaning all the brass contacts on the edge of the simm with a pencil eraser. That's a rather unusual problem, but it seems like it's come up on here before. Normally you'd have to unplug the board or simm for the game to lose the memory on those settings

Switched boards.  Cleaned brass connectors on SIMM chip.  Bill validator now works but still loose enhanced sound settings.

Looks like it will have to be left on all of the time or reset each time until a solution is found.

Thanks for all of the help guys, I appreciate the quick responses.

I did try it with another identical simm, same effect.  I do not have anything else at the moment to test either one of them but at least one of them was bought tested and working.

And a problem that unusual wouldn't show up in 2 differant simms for the same person anyway. It might just turn out to be a problem with the memory chip on the motherboard, you've changed everything else it could be

change your SG chips,  you probably have a set with the numbers in the 100's .  go to a SG 363 and your problem will disappear.
