I have an advantage plus 2.0 game "5x super golden jackpot" that I am having trouble ram clearing. I have a rcnv0010 ram clear EL key for it. Every time I try and turn the machine on to clear it, it says press the spin button to start the program... Ok, so I do that, and then the next screen says to push the max bet button to clear ram. The max bet button is grayed out on the monitor, like it is not enabled. Pressing buttons and turning the reset key do nothing at this point. I left the EL key in the machine when trying to ram clear it FYI. I have tried another mpu board, and replaced the batteries too. Any ideas on what may be wrong with the machine? Bad backplane board perhaps?

Oh, and it's a 3 reel machine with the monitor on the side or the reels.

Did the machine work for you before or did you just get the machine and was DOA?...Somewhere I heard the EL keys have a little battery and chip combo and have a shelf life of about 10 years...

The machine I got not working, I got it parts complete, and I have some extra parts for it. I tried the el key on another one of the same type of machines I have and it worked. So I'm stumped.

Is it a universal Clear Ram EL key or is it game specific?

Maybe this will help also...I found this in my notes...I thing I have other info on the EL's I will try to find a little later...

EL Key (I-Button)
The EL Key, a 16mm computer chip in an armored stainless
steel case, is located on the MCTB and is used as a clear chip, set
chip and for software authentication. The EL Key is a 1,152-bit secure
read/write nonvolatile memory partitioned into three 384-bit blocks
capable of data retention for over 10 years.
EL Key Levels
The EL Key is available in one level (0 clear and set chip).
The EL Key is programmed for a specific game and are not
interchangeable between different game titles. The different levels
are:
Level 0 (Clear and set chip) – Used to
perform a safe store clear (RAM clear) and
make and set all initial machine settings.

Ok from working on the 1.5 you have two different clear keys. One is for machines with games that require an el key to be left in game the other is for games that dont require a el key in to play game so make sure the key you are useing is in the same type of game not machine

This is an advantage 2.0... I have 2 of them, on one of my machines the el key works like it should, and on my other one it won't let me clear the board... I put the other working board in the machine I am trying to fix, and the mpu works. I have traced the problem to the mpu board.
