Bally 6000 coin optic problem? Error 24

I am trying to convert one of my Bally machines to accept quarters. I believe that I have everything as far as the comparitor, coin head, optic board, etc. installed correctly. When I drop a quarter into the machine, it goes to the hopper, but no credit is registered, when I open and close the door after this, i get an error code "24" Coin Reverse, which means a coin was sensed traveling from the bottom to the top of the opyic block. Anyone know what I can do to resolve this? If someone has a picture of what the coin comparitor section loks like on the inside of the machine, I can check that with mine to make sure I have everything installed correctly.

I have several spare comparitors, how can I identify which one will work with this Bally machine?

The extra wire is a ground connection...Someone pulled out the ground wire so when I got it, it did not work...

I think my problem is that I need a 24v comparitor. All I seem to have are for S+ and S2000 machines.

If you notice in the photo's that the coin sensing coil wire are gray...That usually indicates 24v if not labeled on the coin comparitor...

That's all well and good except  S+ use 24V and S 2000 13V

I found a few comparitors that have CC-40 on them and they have the grey wires. When I plug up the comparitor, the green led does not come on, is there a way I can check to see if it is getting power?

What you need is a CC16D 24vac....I do not believe the MC-40 will work...If I remember right it has a 7pin connector and the cc16 has a 6 pin...

I have a 16 D 48 comparitor in it now. Same results, the coins go through to the hopper, but do not register any credits.

Check to make sure you have the prism installed on the opposite side of the optics. Also make sure the optics block is not too wide.

I'm not sure what the prism is, there was a thin piece that went between the coin optic and the metal mount, is that what you are talking about? As far as the optics block width, how do I know if it correct?

The prism is on the back side of the coin comparitor bracet. You can see it by opening the belly door. It's above the solenid and to the left. Attaches with two nuts.

Also, make sure the coin covers all 4 holes as it travels through the optics block

I opened my belly glass door and I think I am missing the prism, I see where it may attach. Can you or another member send me a picture of their machine with the belly door open?

A prism for the optics on a Bally is a piece of glass with 3 sides and secured with one nut.
Is that glass piece there or not?

If it's NOT there,  then you need to get one.

I don't think there's any in-betweens...

Place a WTB ad in the Classifieds section of NLG for a Bally prism optics.
My grandmother's jewelry doesn't work...I tried.

This is what the "lovely" prism looks like.
It's just a 3-sided piece of glass held in with a small metal bracket and one nut.
There's 4 little holes that go through the plate so two light beams reflect back onto the single card which contains both the emitter and receiver optics.
Quite different from the IGT S+ coin-in optics which require two separate circuit boards.
