I think I understand that this is not a game stopping error?  After I close the door this remains in the window and the game will not start.  What would be the first steps you would take to troubleshoot?

Try cycling the handle up and down slowly a few times and see if different errors are shown.  The errors "stack" on the S2000 and breaking the beam on the optic door sensors will clear them 1 at a time.  In other words, you may have other errors there that are causing the problem.  Hope this helps.

Thanks so much,  I did move the handle up and down several times,  i did not see other errors, it did cycle between door open and door closed.  What would you look at next?

Thanks

If you cycle the latch up and it says "door open M" then your optics should be working.  Otherwise if they are misaligned, that would cause your error.  Buzz once posted to turn the jackpot key 4 times and follow the directions on the screen- in this post http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=16707.msg141865#msg141865

Unfortunately I am not a tech and have exhausted my experience on the topic.  Time for one of the superstars to jump in and fix you up!   Help

You should never see Door M open and Door M closed alternately on the VFD
You will see Door M closed and another error will cycle if one still needs to be fixed and cleared.

I am wondering if your Bill Validator Door might be open a bit
IF it is will show Door B open.
make sure the the BV door is closed.
there is a switch on the door

There is also a Belly door switch
open the belly door look in the upper left of that area of the main door.
it is mounted at an downward angle  (black in color)

I have a s2000 it has the dreaded closure m but the game will not play.  It shows open when open and closed when closed.  I am going to change the bill acceptor for one that I am sure works and see what happens.  I wondered can I take a board from another three reel game that I know is working and try it in this game?   I know it would not work correctly but would it work at all or just mess up the board where it couldn't be used in the other machine.  If this would work I could rule in or out the main board. Any Ideas!!

It shows that door is in closure in the display,  but I think the game should play and clear the closure, but I could be wrong.

if it says closure M that means you haave another error that still needs to be cleared
is that the only message on the VFD?

You said that the Closure M is the only message on the VFD. How about when you open the main door -- does anything besides Door Open M appear on the display at that time?

What is the history of this machine? Was it working and this just started happening, or has this machine always had this problem since you've had it, or what?

I am shopping the machine,  It is new to me, I changed out the bill acceptor with one that worked thinking that might be the problem but still not luck.  The closure m is the only error.

Thanks

Try re-inserting the door IO card and make sure it is in all the way.

This is a 3 reel machine,  I dont think there is an IO card,  my 5 reel games have card in door.  I am new at 2000 games and still in learning curve.

Thanks

There's 2 on a 5 reel, 10 button panel machine and only one on a 3 reel, 5 button machine usually, there are exceptions though. Yours is on the inside of that sheet metal panel mounted inside the door

And no, they're NOT interchangeable. Yours uses a 7801 board and the five reel uses a 7802

For kicks, have you RAM cleared the machine? I believe some of the members here have reported that when they do, they run through the clear process about three times to make sure it takes, and then set up the game from there. If your I/O card checks out, I think that might be the next thing to try before swapping out the MPU and/or motherboard.
