Hi all,

I'm some what of a newbie at these slots but know enough to get myself in trouble.
I picked up a dead, IGT S+ 16" Wild Cherry from a scrap yard for a mere $80 that besides needing a little clean up and some parts (which I've done)
has turned out to be a pretty nice looking machine.

The machine was dead, when I got it but, I've since got it up and running. It was missing the hopper which could be
part of the reason why I can't get it to pay off accumulated credits. However I've since purchased a hopper and it works,
however I can't get the machine set up the way I would like it to work.

Here is the issue.
With the CASH OUT button not illuminated and lining up a win on the pay line the hopper will immediately pay out the correct
amount of coins for the win.

However, if I have the CASH OUT button ILLUMINATED the credits won for winning will store in the CREDITS window. However when
I hit CASH OUT, the machine makes the pay out dinging noise and the credits can only be cleared by doing a handpay with the reset key.

I would like the machine so that when I push the Cash Out button, it will then payout with the hopper all accumulated credits the machine has racked up.

I'm not very familiar with the menu's of the game settings but hopefully there is an easy solution for making the game payout the credits
with the hopper like I would it to.

For the record.
My chips are:
Winner Paid: 3412  (this number flashes back and forth between a 0) is this normal?
Credits: 0733

Dipswitch settings are set for hand pay after 400 coins and sounds with reel spins and stops as follows:
10100000

Any help you can give me to setting this game up the way I would like it set up, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Okay I think I can get you started. I've had so much help here that I SHOULD know the procedure for this. Others will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I goof up.
It sounds like your machine is completely working. Now it's a matter of changing hopper and payout settings/limits. First you need a PSR report for your game chip, which is a SP 0733.  This gives you all the information about the features of your game and how to change the settings. Look that over first. The changes are a matter of simply pressing the white reset button a number of times until the appropriate number appears. From there, it's a matter of using the spin button and jackpot reset key to change those settings. Do you have a reset key? If you don't, they are readily available from some of the members here.
I'll attach the link for the PSR and hope it works. Hopefully a more experienced member will step in if I've goofed up!  frying pan
POST a picture so we can all see how your machine looks.

Yes, I do have the reset key.

I've looked over your file you sent. And it looks greek to me. I don't understand the numbers in between the brackets and parenthesis. Where that is in the test menus.

Attached is a pic of the game.

I had a feeling you were going to say that. I'm home again now and I'll look at the PSR and try to reword it. This was done for me just a week ago for my slot. Those brackets and parenthesis indicate menus and sub-menus and they aren't easy to read but once it's explained in non tech (which I like much better), then it becomes more understandable. I'm going to read the PSR but MAYBE someone (BUNKER...POPPO...WHERE ARE YOU?) and just write it off the top of their head.

Well, I agree with you that PSRs look like Greek...but here's a post from r273 that helped me learn a bit about how the PSRs are written, and  what the brackets and the parenthesis mean.

Even though your exact SP chip may not be listed here, read through a couple and you will get the hang of how to read and decipher the PSR for you're chip. And if at first it doesn't make sense, read it again!!  Pretty soon it will be as clear as mud! Really, I think it will help you.   yes

Good luck! And report back with your findings!  wave

Reading that will help!

Here's a quote from Knagl, who helped me not too long ago. Try this procedure...it should work to set your settings and it won't hurt anything if you get them wrong either. His wording made it very easy for me. The only thing is the last setting flips over from the WINNER PAID to the CREDIT window. Just try this and report back.

Hang on...having trouble pasting this in!!!

FROM KNAGL:

Press the white Self Test switch a number of times until the number 7 appears in the Coins Played window, and the number 1 appears in the credits window.  This is the Hopper Limit setting.

Use a combination of the Spin Reels button and the jackpot reset key to change what is displayed in the Winner Paid window.  Whatever value you set here is the maximum number of coins that the hopper will pay out.  If you want to have the machine pay a maximum of 100 coins out of the hopper (and lock up into a handpay mode ("bip, bip, bip") if the player tries to cash out more than 100 credits), then set this value in the Winner Paid window to 100.  Set this value to whatever you want the maximum hopper payout in one cash-out to be.  Please make a note of what value you set this to.

Press the self test button again to advance to 7-2 (7 in Coins Played, 2 in Credits).  This is the Jackpot Limit setting.  Any single win over the limit you set here will trigger a handpay.  For your 5-coin Double Diamond Deluxe game, may I suggest a setting of 399?  This will cause any win of three red 7s (or better) (with max bet) to trigger a handpay "jackpot" condition.  (You may, of course, set this to whatever number you like.)  Please make a note of what value you set this to.

Press the self test button again to advance to 7-3 (7 in Coins Played, 3 in Credits).  This is the Credit Limit setting.  This setting limits the maximum number of credits a player can accumulate.  I would suggest setting this to 9,999.

According to the PSR, the next press of the button will bring you to 7 in Coins Played and nothing in Credits.  This is the Bill/Coupon Acceptor Credit Limit setting.  This setting determines the maximum number of credits that can be accumulated before the game stops accepting dollar bills.  Set this to 9,999 also.

Press the self test button again and you should be at 8 in the Coins Played window.  Ensure that this setting (the Winner Paid window) is zero.

Press the self test button a number of times until you get past all of the possible option settings and exit out of the menu.  The machine will pause for a second or two, and then the displays will come back to life after the settings have been saved.  Close and latch the door, and try playing the machine with coins to see if it behaves more like you want it to.

I'll have info on how it goes tonight. Sorry for the delay the last 24 hours have been hectic with work and family. But I see a break
in the action this evening where I can tinker with the machine again.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
I'll report back shortly.

UPDATE.
Working better...but still there is one setting I haven't figured out yet (see below).

First off let me say, thanks for those that have pointed me in the right direction.
The biggest problem is trying to set this game back to work like a slot machine in a Casino. The previous owner was operating this
in an illegal gaming hall in Texas (Waco I assume because of the tax stamp on it). Not that Waco is legal, so why the stamp?
The previous owner had this machine set up all the way for hand payout. Hopper was removed. All settings were for hand payout
and they had glued shut the coin entry plate. They had it so it would only accept bills and credits could be knocked off with the reset
key. I've since replaced the coin entry slot, put in a hopper and have the slot accepting coins now.

The tips that were copied from KNAGL didn't seem to work for this game. There is no 7-2 or 7-3 settings. It immediately goes to 8.
What was helpful was reviewing the PSR file that someone posted. Although it does look like greek, and it took a lot of trial
and error I was able to figure out what setting would make the game now CASH OUT with the hopper once pressed. (So no more hand pay!) Yeah!!!

I have one other issue I wish to resolve and I can't figure it out from the PSR guide. If anyone can please walk me through the steps, I would be greatly appreciative.

I notice now that when insert a bill into the DBA, if I don't have the CASH OUT button lit, the slot will immediately work like a change machine and cash out with the hopper the coins for bill just inserted. (ie: insert a $5 bill..and it immediately cashes out 20 quarters).

I want the slot to know that when a dollar bill is inserted...that it "automatically" racks the credits up on the machine and DOES NOT spit them out of the hopper.

I saw there was a setting for this on the PSR sheets, but I couldn't figure out exactly how to do this.
I tried several times, but couldn't get it to work correctly here. And yes, I was trying to do the changes with NO CREDITS on the machine.

Any help on this last little task is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Okay sounds like you've made progress!
Your bill acceptor has credit/standard modes. Again, I'm still a NOVICE at explaining this stuff, but since the others are on vacation, I'll just keep on going!  flip pancake
- I'm wondering if they aren't posting as kind of an "initiation" for me?  rotflmao
I'll try and help you solve this one. I'm actually going to attach a link here for a simple S plus manual and you will find a lot of good information. The settings are on page 25 and I hope this will do it.

easiest way to do this:   get into the diagnostic/test mode---open door press the white test button one time.
you will stay in this mode until you run through all the tests and the machine will automatically take you back to the game play mode or you close the door and push down the latch.
you DO NOT HAVE TO USE THE JACKPOT RESET KEY FOR ANYTHING AT THIS TIME, YOU WILL DO EVERYTHING FROM THE BUTTONS ON THE FRONT DOOR.

winner paid window=wp     credits window=c   coins played window =cp

use the bet one button to advance through the tests and ,  use the bet max button to reverse your direction through the tests use the change button to advance through the options associated with the tests. (when doing this you can only go forward through the options, if you overshoot a number, don't panic, just go through all the options and it will take you back to the first option)    NOW WE HAVE SET ALL THE GROUND RULES THE REST IS EASY.

AFTER YOU GET INTO THE TEST MODE YOU WILL SEE NUMBERS IN THE wp or c. these don't matter.
press the bet one button until you see a 5_0,1,2 in the wp,  press the spin button to change this option, 0=winnings go directly to display, 1= gives player option to select winnings go to display or pay from hopper.
NOW PRESS the change button, it will take you to every option available in this test.  the one you are concerned with: wp=8_0,1   all the way to the end  xxxx=wp this equals dip switch setting 1-4,   xxxx=c  this equals dip switch 5-8 on the logic board..   use the spin button to change 8_1  this will stop the payout from the bill acceptor input to coins.

now once you have those two settings then you are finished in that test.  dip switch settings have to be physically done on the main board by moving the switch to the on position or the off position, for your setup I would recommend to put 1-4 on and 5-8 off, this will give you payout limit setting that you can control the final amount.

NOW press the bet one button , each time you press this it will take you to a different test, if you miss the test you want you can use the bet max button to back up to the one you want.

cp1=input tests
cp2=output tests
wp=50  audio tests
wp,c= display test
cp3=hopper test
cp4=game/sp type
cp5=reel test
cp6=denom. test c=actual setting of denom.
cp7=programable payout limit of the hopper, if dip switch 1 and 2  are on then you can set this from 0 to 9999 use the change button to advance to the next flashing digit ,then use the spin button to advance the digit.
cp7=bill limit  max amount of bill credit before bill acceptor will turn itself off.  set same as above
cp8=partial pay of jackpot, amount hopper will payout from a jackpot win.   set same as above.

when all your settings are complete ,close the door  push down the latch, and enjoy the game.

Hope this helps

Jim
