I am stuck with the dreaded "CMOS DATA" message on two PE+ (I think) games.  One is a Multi Poker, the other is a Deuces Wild.  They are both uprights, and have the MPU/Mother boards on the left side of the cabinet.  They are at a friends house, and have sat unused for a few years.  They both had the "Low Battery" message, which went away after the batteries were replaced.  Now, they both have the CMOS Data messages when the door is opened, and a CALL ATTENDANT (no CMOS) message when the door is shut.  I tried the reset procedures (discussed in numerous threads) using the white test button, although I never heard a ding, nor did I ever see anything happen when I pressed the button.  On the deuces wild I can use the JP reset key to scroll thru audit screens, but it still come up with CMOS Data.   I am a pinball tech, but I have very little experience with slots.  If anyone out there has something new I could try, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm.  Make sure you're doing the steps in this exact order:

- open the door

- press and hold the self test button for at least five seconds (you should hear the ding, but the speaker could be broken, or the volumes could be turned off)

- close the door (make sure the Door Open message vanishes)

- turn the jackpot reset key once and release

- repeat the process one more time if necessary

That should do it.  If not, either your self test switch is broken, or you need a clear chip. Both are unlikely, but not unheard of.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info.  I am sure that I tried everything on my first attempt, but I must have gotten something out of sequence.  On the second trip to my buddy's house, we were able to get them reset right away.  All is good now. Hail
